Hoisted Hope

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:10 am by Broken & Brave

“Your Strength Is Anchored in Hope.”

This was the theme of a presentation I spoke at a women’s one day retreat last Fall. I love this theme, because when you think of a storm and you think of the purpose of an anchor it has power to settle your soul, just as an actual anchor would cause a ship to hold even when the storm doesn’t settle.

As part of my commitment to speak I was asked to bring along a raffle prize to give at the end of my talk that reflected something I love. I decided on either a bracelet or watch because I have a life long fond affection for both bracelets and watches (because a watch is really just a bracelet that tells time if you ask me!).

I had a budget for the prize so I thought I would go look at a local shop that has darling, but very affordable costume jewelry. I knew I could find something with an anchor on it. But as I prepared to go shop, the entire ride to the store I could feel the tug of the Lord in my heart. It was strong and relentless in its pursuit to get my attention and change direction. I began to know in my gut I was to go to a large department store in town instead…a very specific store that I knew had beautiful and much higher end costume jewelry. I wasn’t sure about my budget for the item, this could blow it, but I know my God well and I figured whatever was there for me to see He would highlight it and I’d get a favorable deal. This is how He always does with me.

Sure enough I found a beautiful little charm bracelet with an anchor dangling and an inscription that said nearly exactly the idea I wanted to convey about anchored hope in my talk. The bracelet was pricey. But the little sign said “60% off today only”. I was stoked! But it was still more than I had cash for. I took it to the cashier and had her hold it so I could run to the bank quick, for it was the very last bracelet of its kind. Oh, there were some with heart charms, crosses, etc. but only one anchor!

Off to the bank I scooted and when I returned there had been a shift change and a new clerk at the counter. She retrieved the bracelet from hold for me and then asked if I had a coupon. I did not. So she went to her purse and got hers out and told me I could have it. This gave me another 25% off of the 60%. I proceeded to purchase an extremely expensive bracelet at a very affordable price.

In reflection, I pondered with a smile, “That’s My God!” He is so good like that. Perhaps if I had tried to just use my debit card to make the purchase I would’ve missed out on the added blessing of the extra discount? Or what if I would have talked myself out of listening to His lead on my spirit and gone to the bargain store? I would have experienced lost blessing.

Obeying God brings favor. God is Sovereign and blesses where He wants to, but our sensitivity to His lead can open doors of opportunity and tangible blessings for sure. Obedience is also a key to hearing His voice clearly. The deeper we go in Him, the greater our need to utilize His anchor and hoist our hope within. It’s been my experience that in the Spirit of God, the Counselor, I have never had a better friend.

Listen for the lean of His heart on yours. Be sensitive to His purposes. Understanding them is not a prerequisite for obeying them. He’s got your heart anchored in Him. Be still and know He is God. Be still and bask in His Sea of Love, for His banner over you IS love. He’ll see you through any storm. He has you dangled from His arm like a favored charm. It’s true!

“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil…” Hebrews 6:19

My Source

“God has not called me to be successful; He has called me to be faithful.” Mother Teresa

You can take great comfort in this quote. I have found it to be foundational in my own faith journey for AT LEAST the past 10 years. God took me on a journey of intense difficulties beyond my ability to control in a variety of difficulty, not just one area. He continually reminded me, with each struggle, that He was my Solution, He was my Source. He used these trials to teach me absolute and resolute dependence on Him to stay true to the path He had me on despite lack of success, despite difficulty. You may think it a bitter pill to swallow, but if my extreme example can teach someone else a basic on how to life by faith and know that it’s ok. We do our part, but God alone determines your success. We persevere. We pursue. We practice self discipline and deny ourselves to reach an objective…but this is not the compass of success, it is only an ingredient. HE is our measure of success. I grew in wisdom and tenacity and I wouldn’t change any of that for the world.

You do your part and trust God with the rest. If you are struggling it may be a test to see how much you believe in His ability to take care of you. Don’t worry…He’s got you! ~Nicole

Prayer for you:

“Father, it may look like I need (insert need), but I know what I really need is more of you. Give me more of yourself because I know with that you will see me through. Amen.”

“So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Matt. 10:31

Creative Miracles

“I can’t.”
“It’s too difficult.”
“I’m not cut out for this.”

Maybe you’ve caught yourself saying at least one of these phrases before? I want to tell you to reconsider what you think and begin to speak what you want to see happen in your life. As a Christian we are never “too weak” because the Bible says, “when I’m weak, then I am strong.” It also says “I can do all things with Christ who strengthens me.”

So instead of speaking what you think, take a moment to complete your thought with speaking life over yourself and all you are capable of doing, believing, accomplishing and achieving! God’s got you!

Joy Infusion

“Sing aloud to God our strength; shout for joy!”
Psalm 81:1

I like to cook with infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars. They are amazing! You can create such a palatable variety of tasty foods by using them. They are completely healthy, and full of good stuff. It’s like a Joy explosion in your mouth.

This is how we become when we dine perpetually on the good Word of God. When we fill our spirit, heart and mind with positive things. The Lord begins to grab hold of our heart and the supernatural unfolds…a Joy Explosion of heart and soul that lets all the world know you’ve been in touch with Him.

Joy is a unique flavor. It may not express itself the same in everyone for it compliments the temperament of the individual. Just like my infused oils, it creates a pleasant aroma and flavor that saturates us. I pray you receive a Joy Infusion today! There is nothing like the real thing! ~Nicole

Does life have you feeling deflated?

My youngest received a foil balloon along with a gift from a friend on his birthday this past January. This balloon seemed to last forever. But I noticed just the other day that it was low and dragging about the ground with only a little more than a wisp of lift to it.

Sometimes that’s how we can get if we allow the cares of this world drag us down. If this is you, then I’ve got words of encouragement for you today…

God may have let life sift you, but He is getting ready to shift you and elevate you to higher ground! What you’ve been through is not a reflection of who you are destined to be. You are fabulous. You are doing great things. Nothing now is going to break your stride or hold you down. He has got for you the Victor’s Crown! KEEP MOVIN’!

Up & Out…that’s what I’m talking about! ~Nicole

Fragrance of Worship

“For we are the aroma of Christ…” 2 Cor. 2:15

A blessing for your day:
Lord bless you to be the fragrance of worship that would fall besotted and soften every heart, that would inspire the bend of every knee, to look longingly toward the King of kings. You are the flavor and aroma this world needs. So many things special about you…you are needed, valuable and loved. God hemmed your every attribute in place and saw your potential so big it placed a smile on His face. Go forward into your day with heart-filled glee, for the Father above is bragging on you in Heaven singing, “That one belongs to Me!”

YOU are going to have an AMAZING day! ~Nicole

Seed Sowin’

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:22 am by Broken & Brave

Every day we have opportunity to speak the good, the potential, the possible (even what seems impossible). We can captivate the belief of another and gently expand and stretch it until it believes for more. But first, we must emulate and represent this belief in our own self. For example, I have fantastic clients! But one of my clients I met at the market. Literally, waiting in line to purchase goods she began to inquire about my fitness. As our conversation grew we exchanged contact info. We corresponded and connected for a period of time before she asked me to take her on as a client. She saw in me a key to helping her achieve a goal. But she had to buy me first before she could buy into my ideas. This is true for EVERYTHING! If you were selling Hope, would others look at you, listen to you and decide to buy Hope, too?

Everything we do is sowing a seed. Plant for a fruitful harvest. You can do it successfully! ~Nicole

You Are A Gift

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:48 am by Broken & Brave

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
James 1:17

“Lord, Let my words be Christ’s potent drug that reaches into and emerses every narrow crevice of man’s heart. That we might all be intoxicated for HIM and in HIm…the ONE, holy amd true. Amen.”

There really aren’t any words to describe my heart for God and the depth of my friendship with him. However, I have agreed with the Almighty to try to convey everything I feel, everything I hear, everything I know through the one vehicle I have..my pen (which has been and will always be directly connected to my heart).

I know with God’s guidance and help I can effectively love an entirely wounded and limping Bride. I aim to love hard with long-suffering that those who ache, those who mourn, those who fail to find relief for their every emotional, spiritual and physical discomfort would give glory to God for I came bearing relief.

He is a God full of good gifts. He delights to watch your life unfold, just like a Father who watches His child unwrap their gift.

You are a gift. Allow your heart to become wrapped up in Him. He loves you.
