The “Pinky Promise”…

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:29 am by Broken & Brave

“As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.” 1Samuel 17:48

God tends to have a preference for the Impossible. That’s where He likes to work. The impossible seems to be His specialty. In fact, He does His BEST work when the odds are stacked against us.

David met up with a giant.
Moses opposed the leader of Egypt.
Daniel prayed when He was told not to. Esther stepped into territory she wasn’t allowed. Ruth forsook her birthright for the Identity of God through Naomi. She stepped foot on the threshing floor and received for herself a Kinsman Redeemer named Boaz who is a foreshadow of Christ. Elijah retrieved an axe head from the waters deep with a spoken command(because sometimes our trials help us stay SHARP!). The Israelites wandered the wilderness, but while in the wilderness they witnessed and received countless miracles so big they had to be seen to become believed. Walls falling by shouting at them? Meat falling from the sky? Water gushing out of rocks? Clouds for shade and fire by night for light? And the biggest miracle of all came and is explained in the New Testament…a stone that rolled away to reveal and empty grave. The Lamb of God had Overcome. Impossible!

How about you? What kind of miraculous provision has God brought to you? When was the last time you recapped your Victories and then declared to an Almighty God gratitude and belief that He can do it again…and again…and again? What weighs so heavy on you that you have forgotten the power of your first Love? Don’t you know that He’d move heaven and earth all over again for a closer talk with you? It’s True!

There is nothing that can separate you from His Love. You’ve been disappointed. Plans may have failed. It may seem like an enemy of your soul has prevailed. But God always speaks last and He always places you first upon His heart and His mind. His Love for you is unshakable. In fact, so deep are His thoughts toward you that you will never be forgotten. He is with you through it all, above all and He will take to your troubles a wrecking ball. You have more power of God in your little finger than the kingdom of darkness has over all the earth. You have keys to the kingdom and God gave them to you to use. So start shaking them! All of heaven will move off of its Throne to come to your aid. God does not sleep nor does He slumber. His fire is full of zeal when you come to Him with an appeal. He will cancel every assignment of the enemy. So get ready! Declare the Impossible in your life!

Did I mention God specializes in the impossible? He does His best work when the odds are staked against you, so don’t lose heart…never lose heart. He is your Hope! ~Nicole

Activated

To be physically fit you must exercise your body.
To be mentally strong you must stimulate your mind.
To be emotionally stable you must practice self discipline.
So it makes sense that to trust one must activate their faith.

America is such a great place to live. Grateful for that I am. We are so self sufficient. We go and come as we please and we have access to just about every convenience. We can work hard, plan and tackle just about every problem on demand. I suspect this is one of the greatest reasons why we Americans have a hard time really trusting God.

We don’t have to.

We trust Him for small things and the things common to our existence, but if their is a big need, a big bill or high priced ticket item we just open a new line of credit. We bow to Master Card instead of our Lord and Master. When was the last time you had a really big need and went to God FIRST for provision instead a last resort prayer petition? We need God in America and we who believe need to be the reason others want it. If we don’t show greater evidence that we have something special worth having then who would have Hope stirred? Let’s activate our faith and dig deeper into stirring and rekindling our own belief in this Amazing and Incredible God we serve. Let’s stop being so self sufficient and start leaning harder into the one who is All Sufficient. He will show up for you…it’s a guarantee. He cancelled our debt once and for all on a tree of humility.

Please, my friends, do not allow heaviness to sink in from my words. I mean to encourage you to take actions steps into deeper faith. If I didn’t believe you could I wouldn’t suggest it. You are the Beloved and you are loved right here right now. I believe wants to stir deeper levels of that abiding love and faith in your journey. Let is spill over you heart and soul then outward on a country that is deeply hurting.

Timeless Treasure~

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:04 am by Broken & Brave

“When my anxieties were great within me your consolation brought me joy.” Psalm 94:19

Obedience to God produces a peculiar glory and builds a peculiar faith in a God who tends to delight to do things…peculiarly. I think He likes mystery. He likes to show off a bit. Not because He has an enlarged ego-but He could if He wanted- take a look at how successful He is at accomplishing what He purposes Himself toward. No, He likes to show off like a peacock attempting to woo a bride. He adores humanity and He desires to be adored by us all. He longs for our friendship, loyalty, acceptance and community. He is quite exquisite actually. The Creator of the Universe with all power at His disposal also possesses the ability to desire relationship with His creation. Extraordinary to say the least.

The deeper you move into the heart of God the greater our dependency on His leadership, His influence and His friendship becomes on our life. His earmark of Glory becomes a deep crease upon our heart that cannot nor will not be smoothed out. It is a forever fixed mark. As our heart bends more and more for Him so does our life, our choices and our inward thoughts and disposition. We become like Him. This is so truly fundamental to the community of the Body of Christ. As we become like Him we become like minded to one another creating a wave of water with each drop representing each other retaining autonomy yet moving, mingling, tangled together in fluidity in a beauty that prevents the Body from knowing where one ends and the other begins. We become One.

I’ve always had a tender fascination with God. I could feel the intimacy of His touch on my heart at a young age. I love how the Spirit drew me in and gave me an early fascination with my pen. From my pen my heart became free to flow. Early on it served as a supernatural way to bypass my mind and its ability to reason and control my life. It was a way to ease past all that and just relax in His Presence. It took me years to realize what He was doing, but I knew Him. Have you ever met someone and though you did not know them well they became an instant friend? I’ve had people I felt immediate bond and what may have taken years to cultivate in friendship God did in a matter of months. This is how it has always been with me and God. That is why I believe God orders all of our life, even our relationships. He has purpose for everything. Even when it is peculiar.

I have always had this deep desire to please God like a child who wants to please their parent. I think He likes that about me…I know He does. He knows my desire to know Him best of all my friendships and that desire drives me to do all He leads me to do. I am well acquainted with faith living to what I guess would be considered dare devil levels. The funny thing is I’m not a dare devil at all. I am organized, efficient, practical and simple by nature. But when God steps onto the scene He sweeps me off of my feet and my heart begins to sing a melody and no ounce of reason or common sense or worldly thinking can shake His desires for me. So I do it his way each day.

I want to compel people with the love and kindness of Christ. I want to affect their preconceived thoughts of religion or holiness. I want to stir their curiosity to know the deepest friendship with God they can have. I want everyone to see that peacock feather extended to their finger that they may touch him, be touched by him and his absolute beauty can wash over them. He dries every eye. He can make every face smile. He can crowd our heart so full when He moves in…there’s nothing left to do but enjoy Him.

If you’d like to know God that way I invite you to pray to Him. But not in a ceremonial way. Just casually call upon Him like you would phone a friend. Tell Him you heard a few things about His nature-you can even say I sent you ๐Ÿ™‚ ask Him to reveal Himself like a showy peacock in your circumstances, your life, your heart. He never disappoints. Life can disappoint, but life does that. But my God is Constant. He is Steady. He is Resolute. I cannot live without Him and I dare suggest that neither can you. I think He’s been waiting for you to let Him come a little closer and enter your heart a little deeper. If you can trust anyone, you can trust Him.

He is a Timeless, Flawless Treasure.

“Thoughts”

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:56 am by Broken & Brave

Have you ever stopped to really consider your own beliefs about what GOD thinks about you? I have no doubt you have already pondered what you think about yourself. Truly take a moment to consider this profound yet simple truth.

GOD THINKS YOU’RE GREAT.

That’s it. Not great with potential, though that’s true, too. Not great at something, though He is aware of your strengths and weaknesses. Just GREAT. So, if His thoughts toward you are great that means greatness dwells within you. So why do you spend so much time frowning on your negatives? God gives good gifts and gave the rest of us a gift in YOU. Time for you to believe it too! God said it, He meant it so that does it! His heart for you is BIG! ~Nicole

The Voice

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:16 am by Broken & Brave

Imagine for a moment in your minds eye…two little girls giggling together and scampering about. Laughing and enjoying the friendship of each other. One little girl leans in to her friend, cups her hand, and whispers a secret into her friends ear.

Once we’ve grown we don’t generally “whisper secrets” in our friends ears any longer, but we can have a friendship with God like non other. And with this friendship comes an intimacy of heart that is full of good advice. He is the voice of a faithful friend whispering into your ear. He reminds you of your longevity, comforts you with the knowledge of what you’ve been through, but encourages you in resilience and break through. He will allow nothing evil to come near you. In fact, He knows how to turn a crooked or crumbling road straight and smooth. So just stay on the path He has made. He is a most loyal friend. Follow your faith, not your feelings, listen to the voice of your Father. Sometimes, when God trusts you, he will send you into shadowy places to extract a blessing…but He goes with you.

Be encouraged! Gods designs for your life are always Bright. He takes away the Night and breaks forth with Glorious Sun Light. He’s got you covered. ~Nicole

1 “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever.”
Psalm 136:1

Gods love is not fickle. Nothing you do could make him grimace or shrink back. He is Constant. His Mercy and affections fail not. In fact, He is completely fixated upon you. Have you ever really thought of God’s affection toward you? Can God be smitten? Of course He can. His love for us is captivating-heart and soul. It is us who struggle to understand pure loves significance. His love is never conditional or works driven. He loves just because…it is who He Is. So stop having a performance mindset. You can’t jump through enough flaming hoops to earn what He did for you. And that’s ok because He isn’t keeping track. He’s just excited to be your friend. ~Nicole

The Midas Touch

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:24 am by Broken & Brave

“King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth. The whole world sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.” 1 Kings 10:23-24

Notice in this passage that the people came to hear his wisdom, not to see his riches. Any man can develop wealth, but a wise man develops wealth in all areas of life…be it finance, relationships, resources, etc. A wise person can adequately asses situations, discern motives and make good choices. When you pray to God, it’s ok to ask him to bless your business or pocketbook, but he will discern the motive of your heart. If it is pure and trustworthy-he will bless you in his time. But the greater prayer is to ask for wisdom, discernment and knowledge-for with these you receive the greatest wealth of all.

May the Lord prosper you-heart and soul- may he put his Midas touch on all you endeavor. Let his name go forth in all the earth for the good that you do. Blessings…

Loyal Love

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:04 am by Broken & Brave

“Love never fails…” 1 Cor. 13

I tend to like to eat the same foods. Variety is good, but I don’t have any trouble sticking with a few favorites. For breakfast I almost always have 1/3c cooked whole oats mixed with either cinnamon or chocolate protein powder. Then, I commonly cook 4 eggs to mix in the oats. Because I track my macronutrients and keep a tight reign on my nutrition-I only eat one yolk and I give the others to my dog.

Let me give you a little background about me and this dog. First off, he is huge. We weigh close to the same and on his hind legs he just may be taller than me. He is a great dog. Since I’ve been a McBride we’ve only had two dogs. The first I got when I got married (because the dog was a McBride before I was) and that dog kept me marvelous company for many year that my husband travelled and I was home alone. She got sick and we had to put her down many years ago. I refused another dog to my family who pleaded relentlessly for a lot of time. My reason was always that there couldn’t be another like Baby Grace and also-they all know I’m not really a pet person. It’s true. I don’t mind dogs. I’m not afraid of them, but I’m just more interested in people than pets. But about 6 or 7 years ago I finally said yes and we adopted a pet…this is the same dog I speak of now. In fact, it is a running joke in our house that the dog loves me best because my affections are the hardest to win. I pay the least attention to this dog, but he follows me around everywhere. It’s hard not to melt for an animal that is so loyal. Sometimes I feel like Snow White with all her critters.

So when I started competing in figure/bodybuilding shows I had to really lock down my nutrition and this is when I began giving the dog my egg yolks. It was an instant bonder. Every morning when I am making my eggs, I can hear the dog trying to get downstairs as fast as “canine-ly” possible because he heard the crack of the shell and he knew what to expect. Every morning, even the days I don’t have eggs, he looks to me with puppy dog affection, drooling all over my floors, hoping I will give him something to eat.

This morning was no different. I began cooking at 6am. All my kids were asleep and the dog was tucked in one of their rooms. But as soon as he heard the first egg crack, I could hear him coming just like that. It got me thinking about God…

God has a nature of Love. This nature is constant. It is dependable. It will not change no matter how often we do. His relentless kindness and devotion to us remains unchanged. He allows us to go through troubles to really drive down deep into our hearts that His Tender Mercies never fail and we will always prevail. He wants us to trust him, to love him, to count on him to deliver just the right food for our heart, edification for our soul and provision for our every need. He wants us to respond to His Voice as my dog responded to the sound of a broken shell.

You are the Beloved of God. His thoughts toward you are not conditional. He raves about you in heavenly places. He marvels at his craftsmanship in you. He designed you with good purpose. He is ever gentle, compassionate, gracious and benevolent toward you. He is your biggest fan. He longs to see you unleashed and run free, spread your wings, expand your stride. He is blessed by your life. Look on him as a faithful friend, loyal to the end. He is always there for you. ~Nicole

A Spoonful of Jesus

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:31 pm by Broken & Brave

Do you have chronic ailments in your physical body? What about your mind? Do you struggle emotionally? Any area of health you need a touch from God, He can do it!

There is a place and blessing in traditional medicine, but God has healing for you. Please, don’t misunderstand me, God is Healer and we don’t get healed by our acts of righteousness…but there is a whole book of actions steps to wholeness given in the Word of God. Whether you are sick, struggling or whatever afflicts you, God loves you and is with you regardless. There is no shame in suffering, but there is one who brings relief.

Here is a passage of scripture you can pray over yourself daily just as you would take a prescription from the doctors at specific times of day. God has a prescription for healing. Food for thought and prayer for those who are ready to take the offense and fight for their health. We can do some things nutritionally, others with doctors and then there is Almighty God. Whose report will you believe?

20 My son, be attentive to my words;
incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Let them not escape from your sight;
keep them within your heart.
22 For they are life to those who find them,
and healing to all their[a] flesh.

Wells of Goodness

God knows what you have been through. Do not look at circumstances or people. Look past all of that into the eyes of the Besotted. He wants to hold your gaze. He wants to carve out for you a place. He wants to bring forth your wildest dreams. He is Master, Father, Creator of everything. He loves you. He can take the worst of times and create the best of times. He is constant and consistent for you all the days of your life. He will turn your pit into a Well of Goodness. ~Nicole
