the Power Of ONE

“Be loving and tender to all.”
-John Wesley
(Ephesians 5:1-2)

John Wesley was the founder of the Methodist denomination. He had a brother named Charles who grew up to write countless hymns and poems. Both were the son of Susanna Wesley. Susanna’s husband was away on business much so she began teaching her children of the Bible in her own home on Sunday evenings. What she intended to be instruction in Godly living for her children, grew to become an in home Bible study to more than 200 people! Just think how God used this Mom to make a difference in her own family that exploded into something amazing for many in a day and age when women did not enjoy the same equality we have today. You never know how God intends to shape and mold your children or how He intends to use your parenting/instruction to reach the hearts of countless others. Be open to the lead of God. He has a plan in place and in the serving position he sees your face!

Parenting Pondering

“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
2 Chronicles 20:12

Parenting Pondering…
If you’re a parent who prays to God there is no doubt at one time or another or maybe all the time you are looking to heaven and praying the above anchor verse. I know I have. It’s been in my heart to do some writing on parenting. I don’t think you need to be “expert anything” to be s good parent. We all need Gods help through it so we can do it well. I don’t know about you, but I am a shade or two concerned for the future leadership status on my nation. I want to see our country filled to the brim with fine young men and women who have the Lords Confidence in their heart which breeds courage and compassion and Holy living. Young adults who value their temple by honoring God with their lives. I will be posting as God leads. Our kids need lots of love, healthy communication, patience, understanding and attentive ears. They need our time, get down on the floor with little ones Mommas (even if it hurts your body a bit it is worth it). They need boundaries that are well defined. They need to know you care enough to protect them. The list goes on and on…

You can do this. Parenting is hard. It is not for the faint hearted. It requires courage and a no quit mindset. God knew you were the best candidate and catalyst for their victory. I challenge you to raise amazing humans! I believe in you! ~Nicole

The Thing HE Did For Love

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:49 am by Broken & Brave

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Nothing is more glorious than to die for love. At least, that’s what Jesus said. Why would a man die for a cause as his? Let me help you understand the Bible a little…it’s not so complicated or even as simple (as the intellectual community believes). Have you ever heard the saying, “The things we do for love”? The heart is a unique entity. Our mind cannot control our heart-though we may try. We can control our choices, our actions, our thoughts and our direction…but the heart has a mind of its own and it will not yield quickly or easily. Do what we may to suppress it, our feelings are our feelings and they have a certain level of merit.

God thought all of humanity was something his heart could not do without. So He climbed off of a Throne of gold and sought you out. YOU! He gave his everything so you could have an extraordinary life. Because let’s face it…Who cares if you have every toy and gadget imaginable. So what if you have titles, accolades and fame? If you don’t have the things that really matter-it doesn’t matter. There is nothing so precious as Peace, Comfort, Tranquility of Soul. God has it all to offer and more.

Give His Peace a chance. You are worth more than your weight in gold. Allow God’s Providence for your life to unfold. This is the real “Jesus Culture”.

Find Your Niche

Work within your gifts and you will never miss!

I recently ran into an old friend who I hadn’t seen in quite some time. We caught up on life and then she began to share about her passion for working with children. She shared how a woman told her how hard her job looked and tedious as well. But my friend wisely explained to the woman why it brought her no feelings of tediousness at all…because it was her passion, her gifting and calling of God to work with kids. She knew the other woman had a special gift/talent that she enjoyed. So my friend made an analogy or example using the area the other woman enjoyed. She said you could see the woman’s light bulb go off in her head. She understood that when she did what she loved it didn’t feel like work at all.

God has gifted each of us distinctly and uniquely. When we know what our spiritual gifts are we can work within them and find great joy, fulfillment and become extremely productive. We look forward to the work even if we aren’t getting paid. Even when we are tired or the work is hard we still receive a sense of satisfaction because the Lord edifies our heart and soul. A person who is edified-heart and soul- will always come back for more and give 110%. But when people don’t know where they fit in to the scheme of things and they are trying to help or work for God’s glory, but unknowingly in the wrong area for them, they will fall apart at the seams. They will dread the work and begin to drag their feet or avoid the job all together.

This is why any organization, business for profit or volunteer army, needs to equip the people with the identification of their call and giftings. When this is done, they can find their niche and they will work with incredible heart toward a common goal. They will become more deeply motivated. Team moral with be high and they will do all their work with an incredible sense of pride of the best kind.

If you do not know your spiritual gifts there are a variety of resources to help you identify your niche. Find the fit for you and use your abilities to bless others. Watch and see how much you will be blessed in return! God’s army is a volunteer army and we can do so joyously and with absolute harmonious unity! You are on a team and your gifts matter!

“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.”
1 Cor. 12:4-5

Eternity and More…

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:14 am by Broken & Brave

Several years ago I was sitting with a person who had spoken faith in my life on numerous occasions. I sat and listened as they explained to me the difference between them and me. They told me that all they wanted from their walk with God was eternity. They had no desire greater than getting into heaven. I sat there dumbfounded. I couldn’t relate to them at all. I tried not to have any judgement in my heart, for they were sharing their honest heart after all. But my God is everything to me. As far as I am concerned He is my every breath and the reason I breath. When you draw close to God he takes your breath away with beauty, peace and love. In his presence is the only place I have ever felt complete. I knew in my heart, as I listened, that I wanted to gain eternity but I wanted to get there and have a slew of fruit and souls with me and to here the words, “Well done good and faithful servant.” I want to remember the forgotten. I want to accept the Unacceptsble. I want to welcome into my heart the rejected. I want my life to be impactful for Him…no matter how He chooses to present it.

The righteous shall live by faith…
For without faith it is impossible to please God. How about you? If you feel the same way I do you may sometimes feel ineffective at your efforts to make a positive difference for others. It may feel like you are not making an impactful difference, but you are. Keep doing what God asks of you and through your faithfulness His faithfulness will shine through. He will do great works in you and through you. ~Nicole

And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”
Heb. 10:38
