That’s My God! (2)

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:36 pm by Broken & Brave

God’s Beauty is Elegant and Gracious. It is never aimless. It is Potent and Powerful. He is Omniscient, Omnipresent and Magnificent. If you know Him, you know what I’m talking about. He is a Shameless Promoter of humanity and a hopeful romantic for the destiny of every individual as far as His eye can see. I find all of this completely Lovely. I want, and always have wanted, that same beautiful heart of Christ to burn in me. Not everyone wants it and definitely not everyone understands it. But those who grab hold of it recover everything their broken heart took for granted and receive more than they ever dreamed or imagined. That’s my God!

The more of his heart you grab hold of the more clearly you begin to see…filter free!

PB and J

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:05 pm by Broken & Brave

I wrote this post at least a year or two ago. I was reminded this week that the ministry of Jesus was all about healing. It wasn’t fancy, just simple. It had a comforting draw in the heart much like how people become nestalgic for the comfort of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Not glamorous, just good. Enjoy a bite and be encouraged if you hunger for more of God’s love in your life and wish to be an expression of his love do tangible others can feel Him in your presence. Let it stick! ~Nicole

Broken & Brave

I love how the Lord stirs His Spirit in me and directs me on what to write. For the past five days or more I keep finding my thoughts, at random moments, drift to the idea of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I rarely eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches anymore, but love them just the same. No, my thoughts were not lead by a hungry stomach or a craving for “comfort food” (for to many people a PB and J sandwich is at the top of the chart in comfort foods; maybe because it reminds them of their childhood?). I have enough experience with the Holy Spirit and the familiarity of His Voice that it was HIM directing me. If I remain patient and wait for it, I would receive greater revelation of what He desired me to say. I knew He wanted me to write and the…

Under Pressure

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:37 am by Broken & Brave

My Grandmother used to have this stainless steel pressure cooker that’s she only used for making pot roast. It was delicious! My Mom did the same. So when I was a girl, I could always tell pot roast night by the sound of the little steam valve on the top that would release the steam from the pot and would make a little whistle noise. If you’ve never had pot roast from a pressure cooker you’ve missed out. Not even a crock pot can compare in the moistness, tenderness and flavor the meat yields from this contraption.

Sometimes life is full of pressure. It builds all around us or maybe it comes from within us. You can try to stuff it down or push it out, but the steam will release somehow just like that pressure cooker. The key is doing it appropriately. This is so much harder than we think, right?

When life feels like a pressure cooker and you see no relief in sight, you can lift your eyes to the sky, praise the one who is in control of all things and you can remind yourself of all the strength, character and virtue God is further developing in you. The greater the pressures you will know the greater your outcome He intends to yield…just like that pot roast, you will bring a brilliant flavor, tenderness and moisture to the table of every day life and everyone you greet.

Gods got you and He is merely making you stronger. Hold on a little bit longer. He’s got you! I know you’ve got what it takes with all that’s a stake to rise higher than you ever have before.

Expect the great while you wait! ~Nicole

Eligible For An Upgrade

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:37 am by Broken & Brave

I’ve got this phone…
Aren’t phones today incredible? Cell phones in particular can do pretty much anything short of launching a space shuttle and for all we know, THEY CAN! After a few years we generally become eligible for a renewed contract with our carrier and we can get a new and even better phone. This all makes me smile because I don’t know all the things my phone can do as it is.

Your connection with God is much like your fancy cell phone. You have 24/7 access and you have connection. But where are you? Is your connection weak or is it strong? Are you aware of all the power you have in the palm of your hand? God can do infinitely more for us and in us and through us than we presently are aware of and that includes ALL of us. You are not discounted from the concentrated Power of God in your life.

So when trials come, questions go unanswered and prayers seem like they are turning to vapor in the shade, be thankful, you just may be eligible for an upgrade! Everything we go through is God’s unique plan to prepare us for blessing. We are getting ready to move up and into bigger freedom, liberty and blessing with no roaming fees! He is a God of Destiny and He plans accordingly, position yourself for His greatness! ~Nicole

The Art of Connection

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:43 am by Broken & Brave

“Therefore, accept one another, just as the Messiah accepted you, for the glory of God.” Romans 25:7

I’m a very friendly person. I try to look everyone in the eye as I pass by and say “hello”. I say hello to pretty much everyone…it might be strangers at the grocery store or when I bump into people I know I make a point to let them know I notice them (if it’s possible). Mostly because I want people to feel valued, important and special. I want them to walk away in their day feeling good. I may not add a tremendous amount of value to their day, but maybe I will? We never know what kind of issues and realities people are facing in the backdrop of life. Being approachable and open is always a good idea. Share your smile today, look others in the face and share your kindness. Do not believe this to be impossible for you. Though it is more challenging for introvert personality types it can become easier with repetitive discipline to reach out. I am an introvert by nature! Though I have always been friendly I haven’t always been the initiator of friendliness out of fear or discomfort. But with the love and kindness the Holy Spirit has yielded to me I learned to get my focus off my own discomfort and into others. You can do it to. With God’s help nothing will be impossible for you. ~Nicole

Aptitude of Heart

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:14 am by Broken & Brave

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
And naked shall I return there.
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away;
Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong. Job 1:21-22
The saying goes “attitude determines your latitude.” It’s easy to have a good attitude when things are good and abundance flows, but what stirs in your heart when trials grow? Job is an example for all on how to praise God. If our heart is truly for Him and trusting Him we serve Him and do as He leads no matter if we ever receive any blessing or not. It is our duty. Duty contains honor, privilege and platform all its own. For the close friendship that flows from it with the Father is like non you have ever known. Give thanks to God, even in your storm. He is merely peeling away the mire and creating a kind of blessing you have never known. You can trust Him. ~Nicole

Recipe for Hope

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:46 am by Broken & Brave

My heart stirs in the early morning hours. I usually wake with a theme from the Lord in my heart that I recognize He would desire to flow from my pen. A creative writer’s heart is generally attached to their pen and even when it is information to be conveyed, the measure of love, hope, inspiration and encouragement contained inside that heart will flow through as well. It’s like drinking infused water. But when you couple the gift for prophesy in there as well there is the empathy revealed that solely belongs to the Lord. This gift can see the unknown, hear the unknown and feel the unknown. So it is not unnatural for one to experience the natural emotions of others with this gift. Sometimes I can literally feel the heart of another or how God feels about them. This makes it possible to experience and express deep connection with people who are hurting. It is a measuring tool of God to expedite healing.

I woke this morning feeling the broken hearted ness of young females. I saw in my dreams the various struggles common to the modern day 20 year old woman. Sadness unexpressed from experiences they have had. Then I began to pray about how God would use me to love, influence and impact them with an Infusion of Hope and give them a Recipe for Love.

I was thanking God for His wisdom and revelatory knowledge. I was reminded of a specific few friends and how God has developed and is using their gifts and I got thinking I needed to share with you to help you pinpoint your gifts too. Many people feel burdens of God within their heart and mind that are a Beautiful Calling and they do not realize that is what it is. For example…

At least 10 years ago I had a friend share with me that she had this secret desire in her heart that she couldn’t explain and didn’t tell people for fear of what they would say to her. She longed to make a bunch of peanut butter sandwiches and go to Wilson Way (a rough area of my city known for prostitution) and feed the homeless and the prostitutes. “Is that weird?” Was her common after statement. I have another friend who told me she would drive down the street and her mind would almost always drift to curious thoughts about the lives of the children who lived behind the closed doors of the homes. We’re they hurting? Were they being loved and cared for? “Isn’t that odd?” She would wonder every time.

I will tell you what I told them both, “it is a burden from God”. He is giving you His heart for a specific need in your community. I told the first to go make sandwiches and I told the second to pray that God in His timing will open those doors for her to see and meet the needs. Both women this day are doing EXTRAORDINARY things at high levels in the areas they shared about with me confidentially all those years ago. Can I take credit for any of that? Not an ounce. But here is what I know, God used me to infuse Hope and resonate understanding by making the connection for them of how what they were thinking and feeling was really God’s call for them. How many people are being called to do something but don’t know the connection and how to get started? God used my words to help encourage them.

We are all tied together in the Kingdom of God. My gifts affect and assist your gifts and yours do for mine and so on and so on and so on. God needs you. He could do it all Himself, but that’s not how He chooses to work. He is deeply relational. So He Infuses us with the good things of His Nature and floods us with Purpose and abilities and desires to send us out as Fishers of Men. You’ve got an important part to play. Stay the coarse. Ask God to reveal His Hope in you in the manner He desires to the community around you. He is all inclusive and He has an important role for you. Finish Strong. You are Important! ~Nicole

I Compete

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:05 am by Broken & Brave

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you future and a hope.” Jer. 29:11

Why I compete in Bodybuilding:

You were created to live an abundant, prosperous, healthy, life. When you make the choice to compete in bodybuilding as a Believer you know going in you will be sternly judged by some. Many feel it’s “wrong” for a Christian woman to do this. I’m ok with that. It’s not usually hard to discern who thinks what because facial expressions say a lot. But look around. We live in a society that is obsessed with surface appearances on every level. Young girls are looking at fitness motivation images that are nothing more than soft core porn. Is that the influence we want? Women who have lost their fitness or shape because they’ve been caring for family more than themselves believing “this is just how I am now”. It doesn’t have to be so. I compete for the Lord who directed me to the sport. I compete for young girls to show them you can be classy and tasteful in the fitness industry. I compete for real women with real fitness struggles to inspire them to believe that if I can compete in my 40’s after 5 babies, they can lose some pounds and feel better. I compete because I believe in YOU! Be encouraged to be your best self ever no matter what the past has been. God has an incredible life waiting for you, feel good and enjoy the ride! ~Nicole

Stories…

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:21 am by Broken & Brave

Have you ever been around a really good story teller? Someone who can immediately draw you in with a descriptive tale of intrigue. You draw fully engaged and captivated by their face…for a good story teller frequently speaks with their expressions as much as their voice. Everyone loves a good story, but consider this…
YOU ARE A GOOD STORY.
The pages of your LIFE are being tucked in your heart, knit in your being and expressed with each breath as you venture through your day.
You are a story worth telling. ~Nicole

THAT’S Going To Leave A Mark!

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:21 am by Broken & Brave

” So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace. …” Romans 11:10

Rise and Shine…a new day is here.
There are still approx. 4 mos.
left in this year.

It’s going to be epic!

WHY NOT believe this?
WHY NOT live each day with such enthusiasm it becomes contagious?
WHY NOT ignore your nay-sayers and continue to live with extraordinary attitude?
WHY NOT believe everything you dreamed for yourself and your family will come true?

Don’t be afraid. No longer hold back for fear of disappointment, rejection with hesitation in how the world in general will respond to you. You’ve tried the later of these approaches, let’s make a positive change today and try the WHY NOT idea from now on. I guarantee you will leave a mark wherever you go and it will be extraordinary! ~Nicole
