I love the story of Secretariat. I’ve written about him before. Many rich analogies that can be drawn for life in this immortalized race horse.

Secretariat was a Champion thoroughbred, but at the start he wasn’t looked upon as the champion stallion he was. The owner was even discouraged from investing any time or effort into him. But she saw something in this creature that no one else did. She LOVED him, groomed him and prepared him to race. She enjoyed every step he would take. Then, when it was time to run the greatest race of his life–the owner did the opposite of what the racing community would like. She pressed him. Secretariat himself had been so rigorously trained and tried and pushed, on game day he knew exactly what to do. He raced his heart out and knew what his body could take. He had been adequately prepared to win the race.

You are perfectly designed for the journey. God has hand crafted you for your task. You are being Divinely Inspired and equipped to overcome. The most glorious season of your life has yet to become.

You are, in fact, glorious.

You can do all things by Him who gives you strength. Run your race! You are strong and able and there is a Crown to take!

A Word of Encouragement to grab hold of today:

Beloved…I know what the Lord is up to. He is equipping you for your Calling. He is building stamina, fortitude, and the ability to dig deep and keep going. You already have all of these virtues…but he is molding you to a new level of abundance in each. I am so excited for you!!! I will pray you through…but get excited, God must have amazing and wonderful plans for you!

God sees and knows every detail of  the struggles you are going through.
He is with you, guiding you, strengthening and protecting you through it all. By it, learn to trust more deeply in Him. Keep your eye on Him. Stay in the race, your Prize is great!

You are Beautiful. ~Nicole

Starting Block of Life

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:13 am by Broken & Brave

Saturday I attended my son’s first track meet, ever. It was getting close to his first event so John and I made our way to the fencing around the track right at the starting blocks. As we waited we watched a girls relay begin. The young ladies were getting their blocks in the correct lane position and adjusting the feet to meet their comfort for a good push off. One young lady, just in front of us, didn’t know what to do. She was working and trying, but her blocks were not in the correct location. The officials were getting ready to start the race and they hadn’t noticed she was in the wrong place. It wasn’t until another young lady asked for help that the official noticed. So he helped the first gal, then made his way to the other, “Miss Lane 6”. She still kind of fumbled around and didn’t quite understand what the official excepted of her, but she tried and persevered. When it was time to start her blocks still weren’t set correctly and the official looked over and my husband and I and said with a little smile, “she’ll find her way.” We nodded and agreed, equally smiling. Grace in action. I love that.

You are richly crafted and gifted by God. The key is to recognize your gifts and then hone them in and develop them. No matter what your gift may be, you have to exercise it and be ok with fumbling around in it, until you develop it just like a spiritual muscle. We also need to give grace to each other as they are finding their own place, too. We always encourage, “don’t be afraid to try”, but then when we try there are others who expect perfection right off the start blocks. Why?

Never be afraid to try. You won’t be like a seasoned athlete your first day. But with patience and persistence–you’ll get the hang of it. ~Nicole

Visible Love

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:01 am by Broken & Brave

img_8141I think everyone has relationship goals of one sort or another. One of my goals for as long as I can remember is this…
I want to love my each of my children as though they were my favorite. I want each child to feel so loved they don’t question my love for them in comparison to a sibling. This, for any parent, is such a delicate, patient and time focused goal. There will always be times when one child gets more of time, energy/attention or money, but the key is to keep it balanced.

Did you know that God loves you like that? It’s true. He totally and completely sees you. You are not invisible to him.

I spent all of my young life and even into adulthood feeling invisible. Not because of my parents or anything like that-but with peers and the world at large. I was enormously bashful and quiet. These qualities makes it easy to feel invisible. On top of this I am a bit soft spoken. Even when I try to be loud I can’t be. I actually have a hard time with large crowds and lots of loud noises. My natural bent is to recluse myself in those settings, even more so as a kid.

It wasn’t until I noticed God noticing me that my shell began to chip off and I began to blossom and bloom under the Radiant loom of His love, attention and care. I never needed to be a favorite at anything. I was too shy for any kind of attention like that. I just didn’t like feeling invisible…like I had no voice, no place. His love gave me a voice and it turns out, my passions and calling in life requires the use of that voice. You can’t encourage without using your voice!

God loves you. He sees you. He hears you in the quiet of your soul.
There’s something He wants you to know…

I have no doubt. You are God’s favorite, too. He’s just a cool Papa like that–I like that–His love is enough for all of us. ~Nicole
