My All for the Call

Do all things without complaining and disputing…”

Is it difficult for you to go an entire day without complaining…about anything?

Think about it.

Think about the coarse of your day. Did you complain about anything today? Did you find displeasure in something, whether a situation or another person? Did you verbalized your displeasure out loud to yourself or another? Or maybe you thought the negative thought, but gave it no wings to fly out of your mouth. Does the mere thought of complaints also count in this passage as a complaint?

Wow. How hard it is for us to make it through one single day without sinning. We truly all fall short, even in this category alone we are condemned without His Amazing Grace!

I think about this passage quite a bit. What is it that leads some people to complain more than others? I think the root and answer lie within the heart and the level of true gratitude it possesses. I believe even the most ungrateful complainer can become better.

What an enormously blessed life most Americans live. We are all blessed differently and the levels and degree of our prosperity, family love and loyalty may differ, but we are blessed as a nation overall. We have so much to be grateful for.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Phil. 4:8

Where are we resting our mind?
When we rest our mind on passages like Philippians 4:8, we are focused on how much we have to be thankful for.

Do you have running water?
Did you use something other than a rock to cradle your head as you slept last night? You have adequate shelter? I’m not asking if you live in your dream house or like your neighbor…do you have a roof made of more than cardboard? How about those cupboards? They may or may not be stocked with your favorite treats and meals, but did you make it through the day without going hungry beyond your control? I could go on, more and more and more. We have so much to be enormously happy and content for.

I don’t think contentment is restricted to us getting what we want. True contentment is being grateful in the midst of what we don’t want or find discomfort or pleasure with. It’s about our mindset. What will we focus on? A complaint is nothing more than frustration because we aren’t getting what we want in a certain situation or condition or someone else is not doing what we want them to do.

Complaining is a manifestation of selfishness.

What does the Word say about selfishness?

Philippians 2:3-4
“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.”
James 3:16
“For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.”
Romans 8:5
“For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 5:15

“and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.”
I know this may seem like one of my lesser blogs by means of warm fuzzies, make you feel good exhortations. But I assure you it is the purest of encouragements.

If God’s Beloved, His Church, can get a handle on both our tongue and our hearts attitudes we would possess incredible power to overcome anything, leaving the Enemy of your Soul miserable with defeat. You will have no lack in any arena of life. You will experience Joy as never before and walk in Victory as God carries you and sustains you from Glory to Glory.

Do you not know your life is under Divine Inspiration from Heaven? It’s true. God has marvelous plans for you! He actually adores you wholly and completely.

Here’s what I know. His thoughts toward you bring a pleasing mediation to his heart and mind. His thoughts toward you are complete and refuse submission to less than the Excellence he has purposed for your life. He is displeased with the notion that you should have to settle for less than His Best.

With that being said, settle your heart on this…

His plans for your life are not a near miss. He has your promises and His plans for you right on target. He takes aim and refuses to refrain from delivering everything you need as your pain, discomforts and sufferings flee. But He wants you to transform your heart and mind to become more like Christ. Find contentment in who He is and that He has a plan in everything you do, all that you face and every member of the human race your life is designed to penetrate with His Glory.

Allow Him the freedom to work out His Amazing Story for your life.

You may not like everything in your life. You may find people God has placed in your life bother you more than bless you. But when you look at people and situations with your Fathers eyes…

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”
Psalm 19:14

…you just may find the things you’ve considered to be a big deal and worthy of your complaint, aren’t such a big deal anymore. And if they are a big deal, the trial will simply slip right off of you with no vehicle to drain your Peace.

Begin your day with a little prayer asking God to bless you to be the pleasant thing the world around you needs to see. Breath…and understand that there will always be people who never gain this victory. It may not matter what you do, they are determined to never find their pleasure and relax their point of view. Misery, for many, can be quite addicting. Love pleasantly anyway…this too has merit. He just may be further developing your ability to offer Patience and Grace.

God cups your heart in the palm of His hand. He loves you…

He loves you.
