Risky Heart

“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.”
~William Faulkner

Yesterday was a day of Celebration! My son was accepted to his college of choice. Looks like we have another Tiger in the family. My oldest, and only daughter, is graduating from college in May (she did it in four years!!) and my oldest son will take her place and represent well for our family on that particular college campus.

I was thinking a lot about risk taking this past week. Over the years God has really stretched me, asked me and even declared my obedience to be one of a risky nature. He’s taken me to some extremes, and even asked of me bold and daring things when my circumstances and life were their most lean. But in it, I saw Him dial in my heavenly support line and deliver the answer right on time.

I guess my kids have grown learning and observing this kind of faith, and for that I am grateful. See, at the time I was doing the ridiculous, despite what peers and even my own family thought, something more important was happening even above and beyond my own faith growth. My kids were learning to watch Mom and Dad and listen to our unwavering belief and then they could see the miracle! Risky faith trust is their norm. What stretched me, is the normal comfort zone for my children. I love that!

So when my son was applying for colleges we asked, “Where do you want to apply?” He had one answer and one answer only. He didn’t want to go anywhere else. He only wanted to apply once. All in. Plan A all the way and no Plan B until it were of absolute necessity. I told him if that’s what burned on his heart then God would make the way and though we didn’t know how it would turn out we knew God’s will for my son’s life would prevail. He took a calculated risk and it paid off!

Isn’t it the same with God? He sent his son to take a calculated and risky step of faith to overcome all of death, Hell and the grave. He took on your shame and allowed it to be nailed to his frame. All in the name of love. He was fully aware that not everyone would love him back or even believe in what he did…but he did it anyway that you might live.

Risky Faith is the only kind of faith there is. God is still glad he took risks for you today.

Drawing…

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

God’s voice can come with Strength and Might like gale force wind. Other times His voice is soft and gentle like the whisper of the breeze through the leaves of a tree. Either way, we must be watching, waiting, and attentive for it.

Part of chasing after the heart of God is learning to press in through prayer. PRESSING IN may require you to PRESS OUT of your comfort zone.

Sometimes our comfort is stretched by merely being still and allowing God to be God. There is nothing you can do better than The Lord. His ways are not ours, so practice the art of trusting Him, leaning on Him, abiding in Him and not on ourselves. It’s always a great day to get better!

Bold Love

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , at 6:47 am by Broken & Brave

Boldness comes from God.

“…and for me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mysteries of the gospel…that I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” Eph. 6:19

When I was a young girl I loved being tucked in at night by my Father. My Mother usually took care of this, but I have young memeories of asking for him to come when she was done so he could tuck me in. He would come and make tiny little tucks in the covers completely hemming me in. I’d be on my back and the covers would wrap underneath my body holding me like a mummy. I was delighted! I remember trying not to move because I didn’t want to undo the tucks that had been made. I found security and comfort in this form of love expressed by my Dad.

All of humanity seeks comfort. It doesn’t matter what theology you believe or what you believe regarding the universe. We all seek comfort and long to feed our soul.

All desire comfort.

We enjoy comfortable clothing, shoes, houses full of comfortability. Our dream car provides a comfortable ride as we sit comfortably inside. On a hot summer day we look for the comfort that an air conditioned building can bring. If we don’t have any of these comforts, we desire them.

How do you comfort your soul?

All have an innate desire to feed and nourish our soul. Some nourish it with religious activities. Some meditate, some feed it with various forms of witchcraft. For others it is a simple faith in a Divine Intelligence. For many, it is the god of self.

There is a Divine Intellect who spoke all of creation into existence. His mere breath provides Light and Life, comfort and rest on our priveledged planet that sits perfect within our solar system for optimal Light and temperature to sustain us and give us comfort. No other planet has the same benefit as Earth.

This same Sovereign Benefactor provides Love. If you’ve experienced it you know what I mean. When you step into His Love it’s like a perfect fit. Nothing else you’ve ever tried could or has felt so complete. Tiny tucks of heart securing you in your place. What will you do to love Him back?

How can you share such a love with the world around you? Nothing has the power to protect, to heal, to restore, to even create like the Power we generate when we yield to love. It will give you boldness as it stirs you and completes you. It will give you courage. It will move you into uncharted territory where you have dreamed of going, but maybe have lacked the fortitude or opportunity to act upon your dreams. This love produces a kind of flow inside that radiates and makes you feel alive.

What will you do for love?

Step out in faith. Security is not found in your comfortability.

Security is found in Love.

Love Strong.

Love Bold.

Love Up…

Your life has meaning and significance. Though some seem to struggle more than others, this too has purpose. God is always fixated on you greater potential and greatest blessing. Sometimes the greater the struggle is indicator the greater the Treasure He has deposited in your heart. So do not be discouraged. Every breath you take is God’s gentle reminder…”You are validated, impactful and important.” ~Nicole

Jump!

Studies have been done using fleas. The fleas are placed in a jar and the lid is fastened. The fleas jump & jump & jump, but get no where. After a while they stop jumping. In fact, when the lid is removed, giving the fleas total freedom they still won’t jump out. I wonder what would happen if a new flea was introduced to the group? Would the other fleas laugh at him for daring to jump? Would they avoid him because he did things differently than them? I’m sure once he broke through the lid barrier (that wasn’t there at all) a few other fleas may dare to jump again too.

Your life is full of extraordinary potential. Set your wings ablaze and get your jumping legs ready. Gods got more in store but you can’t be afraid of whose going to laugh or judge. You’ve got more! -Nicole
