Soap Suds & Begonia’s

I have hand washed my dishes for years now. I want to guess it’s been about seven or eight years. I didn’t intentionally start hand washing—only a few pieces of China that wouldn’t fair well under the harshness of the dishwasher. I can’t even recall what year it was, but when my dishwasher began giving me trouble and we’d fix it and the trouble would come back, instead of replacing the dishwasher, I just BECAME the dishwasher. My children also.
This is when I discovered something.

I enjoyed it.

I found standing at the sink so therapeutic. It’s such a mindless task so you can stand there and get the job done while allowing your mind to be completely somewhere else. My time at the kitchen sink became a cherished time of worship and prayer. It was almost like a “prayer closet” as some would call their special place they go to meditate.

I feel the exact same way about digging around in the dirt. I don’t enjoy heavy yard work, but gardening…that’s fun. It is there I’ve received some of my most cherished Words from the Lord. I discovered very early in my marriage, while living in our first home, that if I needed to relax or decompress or just be with my Lord, He would always show up in the Garden. I had already known I was attracted to meandering around in the flowerbeds, something my parents and family always did, but this little added delight took the cake. I was hooked.

I’ve lived in a smaller home, and I’ve lived in grand oversized home and I love them both, but for different reasons. One thing I love about a big yard is the kids have space to run and play (when they were little anyway). But a bigger yard can be so overwhelming. Our first home had a nice size flower garden and was quite easy to manage. One full afternoon what all that was necessary to trim, cut, prune and plant. Planting was always the fun part. To step back and drink in the visually stunning hue of color splashed about the house. I absolutely love it.

My Grandmother used to tell my Mother and then my Mother to I, that “the porch was the extension of the home”, care for the outside as you would the inside. Blessed with amazing women in my life who understood the importance of the love placed in the details.

Love will always be found in the details. God knows your exact love language. He will always know how to seek your heart and speak to it. He relishes time with you. His devotion will always out extend anything for Him you could say or do. You cannot earn His love—in fact you can’t earn it. He is too lofty and grand for that. But He loves with such humble grace He always stoops down. Because He is in fact smitten with humanity.

Great ideas, great achievements, great escapades always go best with common duties.

Next time you may fuss or be in a rush to get through the unimportant details of your life—sit back and relax. It just may be in these tiny moments are the most splendid and seasoned times to marinate in God’s Favor and Pleasure. The world may read a self help book, take a yoga class, go on a retreat, have a drink, or even eat—but what if I suggested your common duties as washing dishes or kneeling in the Garden were times of immeasurable ministry of love God’s heart to yours?

God is ever Faithful in the little things because He is ever Faithful to you.

It is either in you…or it isn’t.

In the end, the deepest passion, rooted in absolute valor may be planted within One who doesn’t “look” the part.

“Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn’t even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back.”

There is a Warrior within you.

Life is an incredible journey, not one grand occasion, but a collection of moments to be treasured, decisions to be made and opportunities to be discovered. Seize each day, for it is a new day and so much rich opportunity is there to be found if we only dare to break the mold of the mundane, the commonplace, the ordinary. Don’t you know you are anything BUT ordinary!

Uncommon are the Warriors and they are always uniquely groomed in uncommon and unlikely circumstances so God can demonstrate how effectively He means to use them for Holy Combat.

You are girded and equipped with everything you need to succeed. He will raise your hands as Moses’ hands were raised to praise by those God has placed around you. (Exodus 17:12, 13)

Praise God for His Goodness. Hunger for his Power.

“for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.” 1 Thes. 1:5

Your desire for more of Him will not be denied. The Warrior within is a zealous and stoic kind.

The Bride of Christ is dressed pristine, pure and white, but His Bride is also a Warrior.

Do not be discouraged.
Don’t give up.
Look up and give a shout of praise.
You are Heavenly Made.
Perhaps God sees strength in you you don’t even know about yet?

“Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.” 1 Tim. 6:12

Heaven is Besotted with you.

To our heart Chamber HE holds the key.
He unlocks our reservations and expectations,
both the good and the bad, and he draws us near.
Do you remember the first time meeting?
Maybe you haven’t met yet?
It may go something like this…

There was a heart pounding and the trumpet of his love was sounding, asking and inviting you in. Though we may refrain because of life experience or pain- something inside us feels safe there and knows, it is okay if we open the door, so we yield our heart and become open to him.

This is where His love spreads warm and thick. We become covered in it. Then we realize that no other love could fit quite like this…it’s like and intricate hand made glove…perfect fit.
Only this glove not only fits the hand, but the heart as well.

The God of heaven is Besotted, and he sent his Holy Presence, his Holy Spirit for the One- you realize you were never lost or forgotten.

We became One in His Love.

When we learn Oneness with God we gain a new awareness. We benefit in strength, insight, wisdom, as we draw in to the very heart of God.

He has betrothed himself to you.

People don’t speak words like “betrothed” anymore- so what does that mean?
In a world that has become a throw away culture, divided, offended, and lacking resilience to stay the course-
God does the opposite.

He will never walk away.
His heart is yours to keep.

The more we seek him the more we demonstrate Oneness, too. Like an old married couple that have been together a long time- so it is the more we yield to the heart of heaven and submit our will and ways to Him.

There is power in yielding.
There is power in humility.
There is power in Holy submission.

Connect to the Power Source.
Reside safely in the Sanctuary of his heart and the Temple of His Goodness. He is knocking on your heart’s door. He not only wants to come in, but he wants to sink in deeply. He quickens your soul and highlights his designs and blessings to you. Become One with him and watch Him reveal more of himself in you, to you and through you.

Guard your heart, for your life is precious.
He will guard it, too, and he will protect your treasure because that’s how much he loves you.

A love like that…there is no other.

Good Morning, Lord.

I don’t remember dreaming at all.
Oh wait a minute- yes, now I do.

Every dream comes true when I’m with you.

I love how you come to me in our night sessions-
our secret rendezvous of souls.
I cherish those times as though they were an infinite supply of pure gold.

You quench my soul thirst and at the same time leave me hungry for more.
How could I possibly get enough of you?

It is your heart alone I adore.
You have molded your heart around me and within your chambers-your heartbeat- I am surrounded with Peace.

I am whole and complete.
Then there is nothing left.
No fear, worry, doubt or unrest.

“I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.”
Psalm 16:7
