Cluck or Soar?

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , at 6:59 am by Broken & Brave

You can cluck with the ducks or soar like an eagle…

It’s easy to have an opinion. Criticism is never difficult to find and it’s very easy to get sucked into negative words, gossip and here say. But when we gather together and complain we become like a crowd of ducks clucking. Quack! Quack! Quack! It could get old listening to that and it does little productive outside of weighing a person down to the point they might drown in negativity.

I don’t know about you, but I prefer clear skies and space to fly. I’d rather soar with the eagles than cluck with the ducks.

“When it rains, most birds head for shelter; the Eagle is the only bird that, in order to avoid the rain, starts flying above the cloud.” ~Unknown

We see examples of ducks and eagles in the Word of God:

•Joshua and Caleb=eagles; they spied out the promise land and said it was flowing with milk and honey and they could take the Giants. Ducks=everyone who spied with them and said it wasn’t possible. (Cluck. Cluck. Cluck.)

“Caleb told the people to be quiet and listen to Moses. Caleb said, “Let’s go now and take possession of the land. We should be more than able to conquer it.”

But the men who had gone with him said, “We can’t attack those people! They’re too strong for us!” So they began to spread lies among the Israelites about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored is one that devours those who live there. All the people we saw there are very tall. We saw Nephilim there. (The descendants of Anak are Nephilim.) We felt as small as grasshoppers, and that’s how we must have looked to them.” Numbers 13:30-33

•Gideon was an eagle because he believed God when He was told he could take the battle, but only if he released all kinds of soldiers first and did it at a deficit. The ducks? Everyone who agreed to leave the first round and told Gideon they were too afraid and didn’t want to fight.

“When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, ‘The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.’lJudges 6:12

•David was an eagle. Even as a young boy he had the stellar confidence in God by his side and knew he could slay a giant. The ducks? Everyone at the battle field who stood around trembling and doing nothing, including the King.

“David said to Saul, ‘Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.'”
1 Samuel 17:32

Sometimes eagles have moments when they are squeaking a bit like a duck. They have moments of doubt. That’s ok. It’s normal. It’s about picking yourself back up and pressing in. Elijah did. Immediately after performing a huge miracle he ran and hid in a cave because he heard Jezebel the wicked queen of Ahab was hunting him. After refreshing himself with some Living Water in that cave he pulled himself and his courage together and roared as he soared to the battle line. He defeated Jezebel with God’s help. He had to do nothing, she fell from her balcony. But he never gave up.

“Ahab told his wife Jezebel what Elijah had done and that he had killed the prophets. She sent a message to Elijah: ‘You killed my prophets. Now I’m going to kill you! I pray that the gods will punish me even more severely if I don’t do it by this time tomorrow.’ Elijah was afraid when he got her message, and he ran to the town of Beersheba in Judah.”

1 Kings 19:1-3

Many start strong. Many want on board when life is good and blessings are abundant. It’s the true warriors, God’s eagles, who continue to rise and fly when opposition and adversity is high. They have their eyes fixed on what’s ahead. They have vision and courage to cut through the storm and find sanctuary above it. They rise above, every time.

Many begin well, but fail to finish well. Stay your course. It doesn’t matter what the situation and circumstances around you look like. Sometimes we know God is up to something big when the stakes are high and we are called to rise and fly like we never have before. We know He has priceless and precious blessing in store and wants our hopes grounded and rooted in Him. He desires us prepared and equipped for the responsibility of it all.

Remain strong and resilient.
Fortitude resides within you.
Finish well.
Finish strong.
Block out the noise of those ducks who are complaining.
You are special and unique.
You were made to fly.
Spread your wings, now, give it a try.

Your best is yet to come.

You Won’t Go Under

You Won’t Go Under

Yesterday was yet another full and hectic day-but deep down I know wouldn’t have it any other way. I have a large family, clients who want training and a car that takes me wherever I want to go. I am indeed blessed. The afternoon was spent poolside at the school watching my son play in a water polo match. Those boys swim back and forth and track that yellow ball as they attempt to shoot and score. Sometimes they get pulled at to keep them from advancing and sometimes they egg beater their kick under water and rise higher-so high you can see their waste above water-and they hit the mark and advance the entire team toward victory.

Sometimes life can make you feel like you might drown. The demands on our schedules, the need to be in multiple places at one time; maybe it’s a health restriction or financial decision that has to be made and you’re feeling kind of frayed. There is a God in Heaven who won’t let you go under. His roar is loud like thunder and his touch gentle and true. He will uplift you from under and you will rise to the demand with a smile at his wonderful plans just like those boys rise high when they are about to shoot. God is using the demands and pressures of life to make you shine bright and give you the best heart conditioning for this thing we do–Life! He’s got you. So take aim, find your mark, and let Him be exalted. -Nicole

Becoming Unskinkable… Unthinkable?

Posted in Devotional, true story tagged , , , , , , , , , at 6:25 am by Broken & Brave

“Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass”
1 Thes. 5:24

Noah believed and held onto a promise of God for his life for many, many years. He endured insults, rejection and jeers-but that didn’t keep him from putting one foot in front of the other, hammer to the hull. Not only did everything the Lord told him happen, he saved his family from despair and he created a marvelous invention that had never been seen, required or desired before. Talk about a Visionary!

Next time you see a boat of any kind-remind yourself of Noah. He did the unthinkable and became unsinkable.

Hold onto your promises, move toward the Lord and His reward and watch yourself become unsinkable, too. That’s what God would want you to do. ~Nicole

Candidate For Victory

Posted in Devotional, true story, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , at 6:48 am by Broken & Brave

Each day of your life is like a page in the story of your life. What will be written today?

I love to write. It is in me to do so since childhood. As I reflect back over my life I see how he directed me to my pen over and over again.
I love a good pen.
I adore the touch and feel, the luster of quality paper.
I have countless volumes of journals. I type on the keyboard, but it just isn’t the same. There’s something magnificent to me about the creative flow of writing and my pen in my hand. It’s like prophetic art-it flows as God shows.

God has hand picked and ear marked you for Glory. He is writing for you and ever amazing story. Don’t give up! Let Him lavish your heart in Hope. GOD sees you as fully QUALIFIED for how ever he has designed and taken the time to transcribe the pages of your destiny as they unfold like pages into the life he wants you to lead. You are His Candidate for Victory. So press in, press on and carry on…
You’ve got this! ~Nicole

Action Steps of Courage

Posted in Devotional, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , at 4:59 am by Broken & Brave

Your Courage Counts;
Don’t be Overwhelmed

A step forward can be great gain when we use it to give Glory to His Name. You’re steps are Chosen. His Path for you clear. He has seen each one before you ever took one. Think about that. Have confidence in that! You can only bubble over with the Hope and Glory knowing you will have a Banner Year! No matter what you face today-it is building in you a foundation for brighter days…if you will just keep going!

Hope has an anthem and it sings in my heart. What is it that Hope has infused in your heart? Sing it! Use it to make a difference. God put you here to add value to the world. Do not count yourself out. Do not discount your value.

YOU COUNT in countless ways! ~Nicole

Build It!

Posted in Devotional, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , at 6:45 am by Broken & Brave

“Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.” Genesis 6:9

If God is ever going to do anything great with your life you must first believe in His power in your life. We can aspire, discipline ourselves, set goals and pursue them all, but without the right foundation it will collect mold. The dream or accomplishment won’t hold.

Noah’s biggest miracle wasn’t building an ark or gathering animals or even life in the first boat. His greatest Miracle was believing God.

Get it down deep. Let it stir your soul as you sleep. Christ was the Prophet the grave couldn’t keep. He has a dream for your life that will preserve your life with hope that floats. Build it! ~Nicole

Expect It…

Posted in Devotional, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , at 6:30 am by Broken & Brave

A small child learning to walk may fall 50 times for he or she succeeds to take a handful of steps.
A kid learning to ride their bike may wibble and wobble and even fall over, but they keep getting up.
They say if you fall off of a horse you should get right back on to eradicate any future fear of riding.

How do you know this is not your year? Though we may fall. We may fail, we may not see the fruit of results God has purposed within us, we don’t quit. We don’t give up. We keep going. Everyday is full of success and some of that success goes without you ever knowing who you touched and how you changed their life. You MUST dwell in a place and space of perpetual expectation and anticipation of a blessing. Know it’s coming. Feel it in your gut. He is a God of Big things and He is willing to move heaven and earth for you. Believe~

Power of One

Posted in true story, Uncategorized tagged , , , , at 6:45 am by Broken & Brave

Yesterday I was privileged to speak briefly to a team of girls soccer players about nutrition. These girls were all about 13 years of age. Captivating their attention and interaction wasn’t easy. I used questions and analogies to try to get them engaged and it worked to a degree. But for the most part they spent the entire talk not looking at me, but watching all the distractions about the field.

I even brough visual aids and samples of healthier options to try. I spoke of the importance of nutrition in these critical years of bone development. Between the ages of 12-21 peek bone mass is laid and it begins to decline by age 22. So, literally right now they are deciding what their elder year bone strength is going to look. So hard for a 13 year old to care about a future so distant.

By the end, I was a little discouraged, did anything I said sink in?

Later that night, I received a text message from one of the parents. When she gathered her daughter after practice I was the first subject out of her mouth and she spoke all about me on the ride home. If only for one, who knows if there were more, some of my message got in.

There is power in the one. Do not shy away or shun what God in your heart has begun just because right now you don’t see anything. God is working. God is using you more than you may know. You are making a difference that just may turn into pure gold in the life of but one. Something beautiful may have begun.

Stay at your course and finish strong.
