Faith Can Flex

Posted in Devotional tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 8:00 am by Broken & Brave

You have tremendous muscle memory…not just in your physical frame, but also in the depths of your heart, your spirit.

You’ve maybe heard it said your faith is like a muscle. It must be stretched, pulled, contorted and bent before it can shape and mold into something you can believe in. But here’s something maybe you haven’t considered…

When you go through a trial and endure the rugged terrain of a wilderness experience…when your eyes have strained, but you have failed to see because the intensity of your trial too ominous…so dark. During these wee hours of heartbreak and pain is where your real strength is made and when you make it to the other side not only are you breathing, healthy, alive, but your faith has survived. Then, during seasons of comfort or even mild seasons of distress your faith remembers where’s it’s been, what it’s done, and how you’ve overcome, and you handle it all just a little more effortlessly. Your stoicism will give others who lack faith hope and create room for them to breath, gain relief and make it, too, just as valiantly.

You have tremendous muscle memory…not just in your physical frame, but also in the depths of your heart, your spirit.

Let’s Flex!!!😉

Better Your Average

I don’t think there is a child on the planet who dreams of growing up to be average. But as we age life settles in and we begin to care more about what we see in our situations of life in the natural eyes and the eyes of vision and destiny become a bit foggy until eventually they are not functioning at all. We forget how to dream. We forget that we can do all things with Christ. We begin to accept the opinions of others and what they say is possible or achievable for our life. The voices in our heads can be anything from our family and friends to the bill collector who reminds you how much you are strapped financially.

How can you ever risk to take action steps towards God’s Promise? Then it happens…we become average. We settle. We accept status quo as our new norm. We stop growing, stop learning and stop being inspired. We work at jobs we don’t like to make money only. We forget to make a difference because we are desperate for something different in our own lives. After all, you won’t be able to pull other people into the boat of possibility if you are still in the water holding onto the side of the boat to keep from sinking. You need both hands free!

People do the same thing with their health and fitness. They can’t afford it. “Eating healthy is too expensive”, I can’t recall how many times I’ve been told that. Compared to what? Define expensive? Because deleterious health seems far more expensive to me! Or they are too busy or the slightest change in the schedule of their day creates a need to cancel some things out and the workout is always the first thing cancelled. There is a huge difference in mindset between the fit person and the average person. The fit person creates an opportunity for exercise, even if it isn’t conventional or a trip to the gym. They understand the importance of the consistent routine.

Stop settling for mediocre. Engage your mind, read books that stretch and grow you. Surround yourself with people who aren’t average, who haven’t stopped dreaming, who are healthy risk takers and possibility shakers…Difference Makers. These people will both inspire you and make you a bit uncomfortable all at the same time. That’s not bad! It means you’re out of your comfort zone and reaching into a new zone of possibility!

They say if you are the smartest person in the room then you are in the wrong room. (That’s why I married John, by the way, he’s so brainy I never have to leave the house!!! That was a joke…) 😂😜😉
As my husband always says–I call his little sayings, “Coachisms”:

“It’s a great day to get better.”

And he says it nearly every day.

Ultimately, growth is a gift from God. We only use small portions of our mind. They say there are approximately seven different types of intelligence. We couldn’t possibly be strong in every area of intellect. Or could we? The only way to find out is to explore the regions of our faith, our mind, our emotions that we haven’t been so strong in exploring before.

Champions have a different mindset. They work harder on themselves than anyone else, then they take the fruit of what they’ve learned and how they’ve grown and they sow seeds in the community and people around them. But be prepared…when you do things different, think different, and refuse to follow the mold of average, you will get a lot of confused and blank stares from people in a regular basis. You will be misunderstood. Some may avoid you because they don’t want to grow or be uncomfortable. That’s ok. Just smile and keep going on your way.

Rise up today.
Stretch yourself.
Be Intentional…
Be Sincere…
Be a seed planter…
Be a harvester….
Be a Cultivator of Imagination…
The Possibilities are endless.

Be a Champion.

There is a mark of Glory upon you…

Old Faithful

Posted in Devotional, true story, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , at 6:50 am by Broken & Brave

It is humbling to believe the King of The Heavens would even notice me. So, I give Him Center Stage. He is Worthy of my praise.

“When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.” Psalm 8:3-5

My experience has shown me over and over again that extreme obedience brings extreme blessing. We don’t obey for the blessing. We obey because we love God. But God is good in tangible ways, too. So He reaches down for me and pulls me close. Sometimes the best analogy I can give of how He blesses me is a courtship. Like he is a beau wanting to impress me so He peacocks around and showers me with gifts and well. I am presently experiencing some of His extreme blessings right now. My heart swoons for Him, my Sacred Romance.

Extreme obedience brings extreme blessing.

God is ever Faithful. Always dependable. He can be counted on and will never count you out. The Joy of His heart reminds me of a story…

We always took family summer vacations growing up. Camping was big for us. We’d always go to a lake somewhere. We had vacation friends we took trips with. Most of them had ski boats so we would camp out and water ski all day every day for a week. I loved skiing and always had great fun. I guess I’ve always been a water and sun lover. But we had a few vacations that differed and were ultra memorable. One was Christmas in Hawaii and the other was a trip to Yellowstone National Park and every interesting stop along the drive. I think the trip to Yellowstone was my all time favorite family vacation. I want to take my own children to visit.

There are many natural hot springs and geysers in Yellowstone. But the most famous is Old Faithful. Old Faithful received its name for its highly predictable geothermal feature. This geyser erupts every 44 to 125 minutes (approx. every one to two hours) at anywhere from 106 to 185 feet lasting 3-10 minutes. It is beautiful, spectacular if you will. The outer perimeter is lined with benches so you can sit and wait for the next eruption. Glorious view.

Have you ever settled in a vista point and taken in a truly spectacular sight? It is so impactful and brings delight to the eyes, the heart and even soothes the soul.

This is how God looks at you don’t you know? It’s true. His love is adorable.

God cares about our habits…
He desires our Faithfulness.
He desires our obedience.
He knows the blessings that come when we faithfully obey.

Make trusting him, leaning upon His good shoulder, drinking in His Mighty and Majestic Presence a habit in your daily life. You will erupt with Rivers of Joy.

Victories are sure to come.

He Loves You Just Because…

The Spirit of God is such a Gentlemen. He is available to all who would receive Him. He gives brightness to the eyes, Joy to the heart, wisdom to the soul and Peace forevermore. He is fully available to those who love Him and believe in Him. But here is where He is unique, He is fully available to those who don’t love Him or Believe in Him as well. He waits patiently, like a Gentlemen, for the invitation to come in and save a soul.

God loves you. His mercies for your life are never ending. Life may try to harden you, but His heart is ever soft toward you. He’s not like us, He loves just because. He loves you just because. ~Nicole

Sunshine & Sympathy

When you are in the middle of God’s plan for your life, it may be painful, difficult and it will most definitely challenge you. The challenges will confront you in more than one area most likely. So why follow God and His Plans? Because my friend, He is out to make you a better man or woman. He wants to see you happy and thriving. He is happy you are alive and He desires for you to get the most out of your life.

So whatever grieves, worries or heavies your heart… Whether it is a season or situation that has no respite…God walks the trail with you. He will see you through and the glory of your endeavor will be credited to you. That’s His Promise.

Pursue the greater blessing.

One of the hardest and most invigorating things I have ever done was give everything away. God’s not asking you to give everything away necessarily, but He asked it of the First Century Church so how are we different? Whatever He asks, give. Today I understand how to trust him for my daily bread and I actually have more living this way-fully dependent on His Resource- than I had accumulated on my own.

Whatever enslaves, cripples or chills your soul, it will all melt away in the Shine of God’s Sympathy.

God has you. He is giving you undaunted moral courage.

Surround yourself with people who share your vision, passions, beliefs. Find others who are willing to give of themselves to pursue it. It has been my experience that when you step out in risk taking faith, some begin the journey with you, but quit when it gets hard or “takes too long”. Don’t let that stop you. There is a season for everything under the sun. Keep moving forward. God will bring others around you who have the strength to rise and stay the coarse with you. You will overcome, if you only believe…

Never. Give. Up.

The more demanding the cost of the dream the more rewarding and respectful the achievement becomes. Absolute Champion! ~Nicole

Delighted by Design

Posted in Devotional, true story, Uncategorized tagged , , , , at 6:02 am by Broken & Brave

When I was a young girl I truly enjoyed drawing. I could spend hours with pencils and pens creating on my sketch pad. By the eighth grade I thought I’d like to be a Graphic Designer. In High School my Mom and I would joke about me getting a job working for Hallmark one day.

I never became a Designer in that sense, but even at a young age the presence of God’s direction on my life was evident. He was there guiding my interests. I think if I worked for a company like Hallmark today it would be with my pen, but for the content not the cover of the card. But as one who creates…we take delight in what we come up with. Sometimes it’s a struggle and needs refinement, other times it flows effortlessly communicating the content of heart, but the final product is celebrated. Creation is Beautiful on any level.

Life has a way of happening. We chart our course and we dream, of course…troubles, roadblocks, obstacles, disappointments set in. Sometimes as we mature we change our focus or it become more refined. But through everything God has a Masterful Plan. He is holding your hand even when you can’t see Him or feel His Touch. He loves you so much, He adores you.

Wherever you are at today, however your life looks, know this…
The Heart of God adores you. Can you not feel His Pleasure? Take some time today, CREATE IT, and DELIGHT in His Love.

All of Heaven is Delighted with you.

Broken & Blessed💗

IMG_9198Even through the toughest storms God’s got you. If you are in a storm today, He is right there in the thick of it with you, guiding you, paving the way. I actually think most people find this of comfort. Even people who never speak of God or seem to have spiritual interest seem to cry out for him in their moments of desperation. Do you know what, He takes the cry! He is just like a Father who cares for and protects His children.

If you truly knew how much God loved you…you’d let him hold you now. His care is an unbridled love and devotion. Though it is difficult for all of us to truly understand it, I am praying today that God would bless you to feel it and trust in it. He’s got you despite anything you walk through.

Broken and Blessed, God can handle your mess! ~Nicole
