“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’” Mark 12:30

Read your Bible, scriptures, every day—even if it’s only a verse! Just start with something. It’s like a morsel of Food that goes down good and you will develop an appetite for more.

Express your heart to God. That’s all prayer really is…a conversation with the best ear ever. Tell him your heart, really cut loose and be free with it. He is guaranteed to never judge you! You will find it to be exhilarating and liberating. . . The freshest air you could ever breathe.

Set your mind on things above. Worship when you become tempted to worry.

When we look at troubles and complications of life too much we are tempted to worry, get stressed and overwhelmed at times. Just look at how much money people spend on headache medications, anti-depressants, sleep aids and counseling or message therapy! I am not condemning these things, they are merely evidence of the intensity of society and the responsibility demands placed upon the minds and hearts of humanity. So how do we cope? How to we maintain a posture of peace? How do we hold strong in the fiercest of storms? When turmoil is imminent and cumbersome all around, how do we hold our ground? And for sure how do we do it while being still and resting? Let’s begin by trying to wrap our mind around this. . .

Begin practicing a posture of meditation before God. Find a quiet space that brings you some tranquility. It doesn’t have to be fancy. It can be the bathroom if that’s the only space you can get alone. Then just be still. Take a few deep breathes and worship. I try to be an early riser just so I can enjoy the absolute quiet of my home while the rest are still asleep.

Trust Abba Father, the Great I Am, the Ancient of Days, Majestic One, King of kings—some of the names attributed to an All Knowing Maker!

If He knows all, sees all, controls all of eternity at his fingertips, he can handle what ever your life holds.

Trust him.

It’s hard to explain how to trust him, but if you practice the acronym for rest I just prescribed it will work itself like medicine in your soul. It will nourish and deliver the contentment of a well balanced and delicious meal and it will cut through all your troubles like some well sharpened sheers. Just as you get better at anything with practice, the same is true for trusting.

Prayer for Your Day:

“Thank you, Lord, that you are sharp and skillful and able to handle my every care. You are worthy of my adoration and so I offer it to you. Take it with my gratitude and help me trust you when I want to worry. Guide my day and help my heart and soul to hear what you would desire to say. I need you more. Amen”

Have the kind of day today that causes your heart to rest easy and your face to wear a smile so pleasing. ~Nicole

Heart Check

Posted in Inspirational, Prayer of blessing tagged , , , , , , , , , , at 7:03 am by Broken & Brave

Great things are done with great heart!

God can do whatever He wants, however He wants and He can use whomever He wishes. I believe He wants to use you!

So if you are going through it, you may just be paving the way for others to have a smoother trip. He knew you were strong enough to go first. He needed someone who could blaze a trail into the “never been done before”.

It could be your health journey, your education, job selection/career path or something else. It doesn’t matter what it looks like to others. If God has impacted you to move, then move. He will take care of the groves in the road and His Mighty plan will unfold! Triumphant!

“Pass through, pass through the gates! Prepare the way for the people. Build up, build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations.” Is. 62:10

And when you move…move with great heart, Dear Heart.

‪So many examples of heart in the Word of God we can gain valuable wisdom by–

Solomon served half hearted.‬

‪Saul had no heart.‬

‪But David served with his whole heart.‬

Maintain the softness and tenderness of heart like a child. Obtain the posture and peace of a steady heart fully prepared and encouraged to serve the King. Protect and guard your heart from the sting of trials and travails because you know in your heart of hearts the Risen Savior always prevails! Do it all with beauty of heart!♥️

‪”Take heart! I have overcome the world!”‬

Great things are done with great heart! ~Nicole

Prayer of Blessing:

God grant you the Grace and abundant faith to run with ample merit the path He has chosen you for. Heaven alone knows how extraordinarily adored you are. Heaven rejoices over you and not only cheers for you, but anchors a Banner of Love over you. He will pardon your every move because He is with you making Way for your Journey. Take Heart, Dear One. God is on your side and if He be for you, nothing can stand against you and prevail! You were made to overcome! Amen!

Postural Self Check✅

Posted in Inspirational, true story tagged , , at 2:18 am by Broken & Brave

When I was in both the 5th and the 6th grade I had the same teacher. Mrs. Scott was her name. She was definitely unconventional and she was probably one of the best teachers I ever had. Not saying she was the best of them all. She was just maybe one of the best for me. She had some unique methods and she expected a lot. I thrived under her guidance and by the end of 6th grade this kid who was known to be a very weak reader had completed 7th grade English as a strong reader –allowing me the opportunity to take a foreign language in middle school instead of English. Major shift for me.

One of her methods required us to have a line drawn across our desk in sharpie so we could be sure to properly align our paper and we were strictly monitored on our posture. She even taught us a song and made us sing it about posture. I will never forget this woman and her unique flair! I could share countless stories. Some didn’t like her—but I liked her a lot. Forever grateful.

Posture n.—

1. the relative disposition of the parts of something.

2. the position of the limbs or the carriage of the body as a whole:

poor posture; a sitting posture.

3. an affected or unnatural attitude:

He struck a comic posture.

4. a mental or spiritual attitude:

His ideas reveal a defensive posture.

Your physical posture affects so much of your health. There is proper posture, correct curvature of spine and tilt of pelvis, and then there is misaligned posture.

When you have good physical posture your muscles are in balance and your body is symmetrical. There are ways to check your posture to make sure you have proper alignment. This is called “postural self check”.

Abnormal posture can look like the following conditions:

1. Lordosis—spinal disorder often referred to as sway back.

2. Scoliosis—a lateral s or c shapes curvature of the spine.

3. kyphosis—a spinal disorder characterized by abnormally rounded upper back.

Most people have abnormalities that form in our posture, but with proper training most can be treated and remedied.

But what about the posture of our heart? Our mind? Our spirit?

If we can use methods to assess our physical posture, what can we do to test the aptitude of our heart? For our mind we can take test, visit with a counselor or psychologist, many people get diagnosed and maybe take some medications (not endorsing or condemning this here). Or maybe just talk with a friend is all the therapy you need.. There are varying extremes. But what about the heart? How do we measure, assess and self check the heart?

Not all will agree on this one, but I know for me, I measure my heart against the Tree my Savior was hung from. He is my plumb-line. He is my significance. Then I turn and measure my heart {how I behave} to others as he measured his heart to me.

Here’s what I mean…

When you are a person after the heart of God you just do the right thing anyway. You don’t measure kindness and generosity you bless to others in proportion to the kindness you receive in return….

You measure the kindness and generosity you give by the kindness and generosity Christ gave you! It seems so simple, but it’s a small percentage of Americans who live this way. So when you find them, be glad! They truly are a gift. I’ve been gifted with multiple people like this in my life! Abundance has been lavished on me. So grateful.

I have been praying for a specific miracle or provision pretty hard and was hoping for an answer by Tuesday of this week. Instead of receiving my miracle I discovered someone I know needed a major provision as well. It was a situation I probably could’ve helped in.

God gave me the opportunity to be the miracle for someone else.

As I pondered the friends need a specific Bible verse flooded my head. “Do good when it is in your power to do something.

It’s hard to not do the right thing when God gives you opportunity for the right thing to do. I didn’t receive my answer for my prayer, but it felt good to be someone else’s answer. Instead of letting myself get sad about myself, I felt pretty alright about doing right for another.

So I guess I indeed got blessed.

Heart check…good!

Take some time today to reflect on your heart. There is no shame or condemnation in Christ. But there is teaching. There is correcting. There is reproof. If there wasn’t it would be like a parent who was so permissive the children begin to wonder if the parent even really cared. Too much correction and not enough love and communication/explanation produces confused children who don’t know what’s ok and what’s not. Sometimes people just need to be told because no body has told them.

Like when my nephew got saved and baptized at the age of around 10–when asked by the pastor what made him decide to follow Christ and get baptized, he replied, “I just found out!”

Don’t let it be said of you that you didn’t know.

God has lined streets of pure gold with your name on them. He cares about the posture of your soul. Enter his courts. Enter his gates. He means to usher your heart into the most satisfying relationship you could ever know. Peace like a river. Balanced living. Heart. Mind. Soul…you’ll find strength like you’ve never known.

There are benefits to having good posture. Position yourself today!

Scripture Support:

🔐“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness

2 Tim. 3:16

🔐“Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.

Proverbs 3:27

🔐“I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; those who were with me did not see it, but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves.  So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless. Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.” Daniel 10:7-8

🔐Points of Interest about our posture of heart and posture of prayer. Daniel, wise counselor to Babylonian Empire, found in Old Testament, is an excellent example!

Clean, Crisp, Sweet🥠

The Kingdom of God can be like a fortune cookie.

God has imbedded into the depths of each one of our being a soul. Within our soul dwells His Spirit. Well—that’s His favorite place to reside anyway.

His greatest interest isn’t your bank balance. It isn’t your job title, accomplishments or status.

No…His greatest interest is you.

See—He sees it all. The good and the not so good in each one of us. He doesn’t make a big fuss. He knows you are made of just the right combination of raw materials to truly make something incredible. He sort of loves to dig in deep and make a difference smack dab in the middle of your heart. His ultimate goal—to slip past your mind and down into your heart.

It’s always all about the heart.

There is a place for the mind. Use it in the appropriate time. There is a true gift in wisdom. Cling to her, she won’t steer you wrong. Ever.🙇🏼‍♀️

Physical strength—there is a time and a place for that, too. You need your health for all the marvelous adventures life has to offer you! Stamina and endurance need to be a part of you.😉

But the heart…that is where the true champions rise. It takes real courage to listen with the heart. Child like faith must replace common sense and logic at times.♥️

This is hard. No, not hard.  All things are possible, right? You are more than a conqueror, absolutely. It may have challenges or difficulties. But there is this stoic and gritty place down deep inside that most people are afraid to explore. Maybe down deep we are afraid to find out what’s really inside our heart? Maybe we’ve been in denial about a few things? Maybe we’ve painted golden rings and splendid things around beliefs that are in all actuality no good. When we dig deep within our own heart chamber we become the maid and we must clean up some residual junk. We must release every care, disappointment or things that have caused our heart to lapse. We must have a fresh, pink, healthy heart.

Have you ever seen a heart or set of lungs from an autopsy of a smoker and the autopsy of the lungs and heart of a non smoker? Smokers lungs and heart has spots, holes and are grey. But the healthy heart and lungs are pink, red, healthy texture and spot free. The cares, worries and woes of life can be toxic to the heart, blemoshing it just like that of a smokers lungs, not literally, but spiritually. But the effects are quite literal.

God wants you spot free.

He wants to restore your heart to what it’s original form was designed to be.

Not jaded.

Not cynical.

Not suspicious.

Not bitter.

Not resentful.

Not afraid.

Not one of these things.

He can take it all and give your heart a fresh start. Renewing your hopes, dreams and expectations that He is a God of Happily Ever Afrer. Happily ever after doesn’t mean perfect or problem free. But what it does mean is that your perspective will change and so will the filters you use called perception that sometimes skew how God wants you to see. He wants to give you clarity. Heart. Mind. Soul. He has real strength for your journey.

So God can be like a fortune cookie. He is a crisp piece of sugar to sweeten the soul and speak prophetically His Destiny’s call. He will put his word, his will, his heart and soul right in the middle of you.

So remember:
God’s greatest interest isn’t your bank balance. It isn’t your job title, accomplishments or status.
No…His greatest interest is you.

“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.”

1 Cor 13:2

Taste and see the Lord is Good.

having Him inside your heart feels really good, too.

“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.”

1 Cor. 14:1

Sweet as molasses!

Keys of the Heart

Posted in Inspirational, Prayer of blessing tagged , , , , , , , at 7:00 am by Broken & Brave

It’s easy to get away from God.

Sometimes people get away and it’s obvious by the choices they make, places they go and people they spend time with. But sometimes people slip away even though it appears they haven’t gone anywhere. They are continuing to go through the motions, stick with the routine, do what needs to be done…but somehow their hearts feels a bit unplugged.

Is this you?

The hard part about this is maybe you feel a little less than because of it? Maybe you feel a bit of shame or guilt for how you are feeling? You want to trust God with your life and your outcomes, but howcome things aren’t turning out right? These are all questions many believers have asked. There is nothing wrong with you.

It’s time to Rest.

I woke up with this word on my heart with specific names attached that God has asked me to pray for. I’m reaching out and telling you I am praying a blanket prayer for you, too. Let me cover you…I don’t need to know it’s you, but if you tell me it is safely tucked away in my prayer closet and I have the keys. I am praying. Cover yourself with this little prayer and then we can agree God is going to meet your HEART need first. The rest will follow when we REST in Him. Daddy’s got big arms so hold tight.

Father, I pray today that you wrap yourself around the hearts, mind, soul of all who want it. Fill and expand their capacity to feel your Presence. Nurture their soul. Feed their wanting and excite their inner man with the fragrance of heaven. You are in love, I know, show each person earmarked by you just how extravagantly your love is for them, too. Blessings for this day. Give your children rest and freedom from the fretting of life. Help them tap into the Joy inside. Amen”

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30

Sheer Hope is always willing to reach out and inspire us with anticipation.

Here’s what I know…
Everything we read…Everything we consume with our eyes, our senses, taste, touch, smell… All of it penetrates and influences your spirit on some level. So if I can post something positive for your eyes to glide over during your day, it may make a small or significant difference for you. It may infuse a spark in your heart that will work as a catalyst to help your day, your dreams, your aspirations, your tasks. May your joy combust into a flame that stirs you to believe in something of immeasurable worth yet to come.

Continue to dream.

Breathe in your moments deeply.

Savor everything, for it has something good to be found within.

Soul Garden

Posted in Inspirational tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , at 7:05 am by Broken & Brave

The Lords heart is like a Garden.
The words He floods my heart with are likened to a lush and fragrant Garden.
The war room of heaven is a Garden.
God is a Master Gardener and He tills the soil of my heart.
He removes every root and branch that does not belong.
He fertilizes the soil with His Goodness, Mercy, Kindness and Love.
Nobody has ever noticed me like my Heavenly Father.
No one has ever made me feel at home and like I belong and am where I am supposed to be like He does.

I love the Garden.

I long for the Garden.

He clips my flowers and displays my heart like a bloom in a vase and then He showcases my love for Him with the fluid of my pen.

All I’ve ever had to give Him was my heart and He took it– and though to me it did not seem like much,
to Him it was all He needed.

I have obeyed you fully Lord.
I have walked in your ways and done according to your plans for me.
All I can be…
is all of you in me.
I am a Garden,
may others be refreshed in my presence.

Fortified Goodness

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 6:16 am by Broken & Brave

Your True Identity is void of fear; hidden in the heart of God. His heart chambers are fortified with serenity and absolute protection.

You have dreams, hopes, aspirations all tucked inside of you. Hidden in the chambers of your heart, like a chest of treasure. Hold onto your hopes, protect them, they have incredible value and God will protect and bless it. Remain faithful, but even when you struggle, His Faithfulness will swoop you up and carry you in what seems to be effortless apparel to your destination- safely and on time.

God is both an incredible Warrior and a Beautiful Poet. He will slay your fears, wipe your tears and Comfort your soul with great affection. Place full confidence in Him.

No more wondering about what will happen? How will it happen? When will my prayers get answered? Instead, worship!

No more wonder, just worship!

Childlike Faith!

“But the hidden man of the heart in the incorruptibility of a quiet and a meek spirit, which is rich in the sight of God.”
1 Peter 3:4
