You Won’t Go Under

You Won’t Go Under

Yesterday was yet another full and hectic day-but deep down I know wouldn’t have it any other way. I have a large family, clients who want training and a car that takes me wherever I want to go. I am indeed blessed. The afternoon was spent poolside at the school watching my son play in a water polo match. Those boys swim back and forth and track that yellow ball as they attempt to shoot and score. Sometimes they get pulled at to keep them from advancing and sometimes they egg beater their kick under water and rise higher-so high you can see their waste above water-and they hit the mark and advance the entire team toward victory.

Sometimes life can make you feel like you might drown. The demands on our schedules, the need to be in multiple places at one time; maybe it’s a health restriction or financial decision that has to be made and you’re feeling kind of frayed. There is a God in Heaven who won’t let you go under. His roar is loud like thunder and his touch gentle and true. He will uplift you from under and you will rise to the demand with a smile at his wonderful plans just like those boys rise high when they are about to shoot. God is using the demands and pressures of life to make you shine bright and give you the best heart conditioning for this thing we do–Life! He’s got you. So take aim, find your mark, and let Him be exalted. -Nicole

Becoming Unskinkable… Unthinkable?

Posted in Devotional, true story tagged , , , , , , , , , at 6:25 am by Broken & Brave

“Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass”
1 Thes. 5:24

Noah believed and held onto a promise of God for his life for many, many years. He endured insults, rejection and jeers-but that didn’t keep him from putting one foot in front of the other, hammer to the hull. Not only did everything the Lord told him happen, he saved his family from despair and he created a marvelous invention that had never been seen, required or desired before. Talk about a Visionary!

Next time you see a boat of any kind-remind yourself of Noah. He did the unthinkable and became unsinkable.

Hold onto your promises, move toward the Lord and His reward and watch yourself become unsinkable, too. That’s what God would want you to do. ~Nicole

Candidate For Victory

Posted in Devotional, true story, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , at 6:48 am by Broken & Brave

Each day of your life is like a page in the story of your life. What will be written today?

I love to write. It is in me to do so since childhood. As I reflect back over my life I see how he directed me to my pen over and over again.
I love a good pen.
I adore the touch and feel, the luster of quality paper.
I have countless volumes of journals. I type on the keyboard, but it just isn’t the same. There’s something magnificent to me about the creative flow of writing and my pen in my hand. It’s like prophetic art-it flows as God shows.

God has hand picked and ear marked you for Glory. He is writing for you and ever amazing story. Don’t give up! Let Him lavish your heart in Hope. GOD sees you as fully QUALIFIED for how ever he has designed and taken the time to transcribe the pages of your destiny as they unfold like pages into the life he wants you to lead. You are His Candidate for Victory. So press in, press on and carry on…
You’ve got this! ~Nicole

Action Steps of Courage

Posted in Devotional, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , at 4:59 am by Broken & Brave

Your Courage Counts;
Don’t be Overwhelmed

A step forward can be great gain when we use it to give Glory to His Name. You’re steps are Chosen. His Path for you clear. He has seen each one before you ever took one. Think about that. Have confidence in that! You can only bubble over with the Hope and Glory knowing you will have a Banner Year! No matter what you face today-it is building in you a foundation for brighter days…if you will just keep going!

Hope has an anthem and it sings in my heart. What is it that Hope has infused in your heart? Sing it! Use it to make a difference. God put you here to add value to the world. Do not count yourself out. Do not discount your value.

YOU COUNT in countless ways! ~Nicole

Peniel

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James 1:17

Jacob wrestled with God. He came face to face with His Maker and yet his life was spared. It was there that God gave him a new name, Israel, and he was never the same.

How about you? Are you calling yourself by an old name, old expectations of old habits never to change? Don’t let it be so! God has spoken over you a new name and you are not the same!

He is constant. He is continual. He is Penial. He is Purposeful. He is large and in charge for every care right down to every little hair of your head. His Love is in every detail. Without fail. You’re going to prevail. Get excited! ~Nicole

Expect It…

Posted in Devotional, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , at 6:30 am by Broken & Brave

A small child learning to walk may fall 50 times for he or she succeeds to take a handful of steps.
A kid learning to ride their bike may wibble and wobble and even fall over, but they keep getting up.
They say if you fall off of a horse you should get right back on to eradicate any future fear of riding.

How do you know this is not your year? Though we may fall. We may fail, we may not see the fruit of results God has purposed within us, we don’t quit. We don’t give up. We keep going. Everyday is full of success and some of that success goes without you ever knowing who you touched and how you changed their life. You MUST dwell in a place and space of perpetual expectation and anticipation of a blessing. Know it’s coming. Feel it in your gut. He is a God of Big things and He is willing to move heaven and earth for you. Believe~

No Quit Mindset

Posted in Devotional, true story tagged , , , , , , , , at 6:22 am by Broken & Brave

In our house we have been brain washed, if you will, to believe there are two teams in baseball; the Red Sox or anyone opposing the Yankees. That is what happens when you marry a New Englander. This belief stuck pretty hard in my daughter who is a die hard baseball fan. Last year she was blessed to see the Sox play the Yankees at Fenway. A dream come true for her.

What are your dreams? Most dreams come to pass with God’s hand and some detours, pit stops and roadblocks along the way. We learn. We grow. We glean valuable wisdom along the way. We learn of ourselves and we learn of and from others. It’s a Glorious Journey.

Several years ago my son took a pitch to the face during a ball game. I think he was 10 at the time. It took him down hard, but there were no broken bones or damage to his eye. He lie on the bench for a while with an ice pack and his mom doting about. I wanted to swoop him up and take him home, but John wouldn’t let me. By the last inning John had the coach put him back in. The boys were up to bat. My son had to face that fear and overcome. I was against the idea, but then I saw what God did. My son hit the winning run and helped some boys cross home plate. He became the hero of the game. He tapped into his grit and learned to not quit.

Sometimes life hits us like a curve ball. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing wrong or missing the mark. It’s just life. Don’t stay down if you’ve hit the ground. Get up. Brush off. Take another swing at everything God has purposes in your heart. You’ve got the look of a Champion. ~Nicole

Being Least Can Be Great

Posted in Devotional, true story tagged , , , , , , at 7:34 am by Broken & Brave

“…For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.‚ÄĚ 1 Sam. 16:7

God doesn’t think like we do. God doesn’t chose like we chose.
The Bible says to do unto the least of these…because our least is God’s Great.

My husband has been coaching athletes for over 30 years at all levels. One particular athlete who is now retired is an example of God’s Great. First off, she competed in a sport she is not built for. Most women she would go against are big, thick, stout and muscular. But not her, she is tall and long and lean. Actually built well for many sports, but not the one she excelled in. She graduated from a Pac 12 school. She has competed all over the world, competed in 3 Olympics and holds an American Record.

Highly successful, but not the obvious choice.

What the crowds don’t know is her Mother had great complications during her pregnancy. Her doctors deeply and repeatedly encouraged her to terminate the pregnancy because the baby would be full of sickness and the Mother’s own life at risk. But her Mom, full of Faith in God, held strong to her tiny Promise and her big God. She kept believing in what was conceived within her and she gave birth, despite the dark forecast, to a healthy and strong little girl.

You may not be in a high risk pregnancy. But you may be dealing with pressures and risks…troubles that overshadow your Hope. Be encouraged. It is never too late for God to step up and step out for you. Hold Him tight and He will see you through. He will deliver a beautiful Promise to you! ~Nicole

Bold

“The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13

Every Believer has a ministry tucked within the chambers of their heart. It’s been planted there by a Sovereign God who had a special design on your life when He created your life.

My entire childhood and young adult life I was pretty quiet, subdued and introverted. I still am somewhat of an introvert. I love being around and encouraging others, but I also deeply cherish my quiet alone time too. I was timid. I was unsure of myself. Then I began this beautiful discipleship program by John C. Maxwell. It wasn’t a Bible study but a field development training for my nutrition business. God used it to stretch me exponentially. See, I knew hands down my husband was a leader, but never considered myself one. As I worked through the leadership training and my myopic thinking was stretched, God was stretching my heart and challenging me with the notion that as a Believer I am called to lead. It is part of the commission.

Ministry does not need to require becoming ordained or taking a long mission trip. Those things are lovely, but if we all did that who would love your neighbor? Who would help the person who’s car has tanked it on the side of the road? Who would run for public office to shape a nation right? You are a marketplace minister and you carry the gospel with you everywhere you go. Go boldly on the path marked out before you. Shine bright despite the darkness of night! It’s all for His Glory! Your life is one incredible story. Own it boldly. ~Nicole

Comforts of Home

The Lord is Good and His Tender Mercies endure forever.  Fragrant is the sweet smell of kindness.  Aromatic are the fruit of the Spirit as they leave a trail of essential goodness.

Have you ever walked into a house while a fresh fruit pie was baking in the oven? Heaven, right? ¬†The smell is so delicious, so inviting and brings a sense of comfort and “home” even if it’s not your home. This is how it is with the fruit of the spirit. ¬†As we demonstrate these virtues as character attributes in our own virtue it is like we emit a fragrance the world doesn’t understand, but it will highlight our lives to all of man. When fruit is cooked enzymes are released, the firm skin of the fruit softens and the inside of the fruit becomes warm. The more fruit of the spirit flowing in us and through us the more our heart does the same. Life makes many people calloused of heart. But the Goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, Meekness, Quiet Strength, Compassion, Encouragement of our Lord possesses power to make every heart soft and warm when it’s allowed.

Whatever has ailed you in life, give it to the Father of Life as a gift this Christmas. He’s been wanting to dispose of your pain all along. Step into His Heart like the comforts of home and allow Him to share some Goodness with you. ~Nicole

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

Gal. 5:22-23
