Honor and Duty

Esther had attributes that would make any woman great. She possessed humility, wisdom, compassion and courage. I love reading about Esther.

Her life brings questions to my mind I will never know the answer to. Esther received the royal treatment. A common Jewish girl who found herself wearing a crown and married to the king. Esther may or may not have been interested in this title or role-but God gave it to her because he knew she would carry out completely the assignment he required for her.

She may not have understood what God was up to. She may have even begged to be hidden from view-

but God knew what to do and so did her relative, Mordecai, who was the only earthly father she ever knew.

We can learn so much from the life of Esther. She may have struggled with her calling in life. She may have wanted to hide or run away. But she trusted her Father and she did as he said and it turned out well for her in the end she brought empowerment back to her people.

God’s got things for you to do that you may not always want to do or understand. Trust his lead and watch everything work out in the end as your eyes behold…you were born for such a time as this. ~Nicole

“O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62:8

Exhortation of Blessing~

Go forth this day knowing beyond any shadow of doubt, that God’s thoughts toward you run deep and not a day would be complete without His Tender Arm reaching down and fondling your heart. He makes every crooked place straight. He is the Keeper of every Gate and holds the keys to everything. He is not loud. He is not proud, but He is besotted and His eye amplified on you–His glorious prize. Allow the Lord to be the soul possessor of your heart and soul. He will guard your mind. He will throb your heart. He will soothe all that chaffs you. You will not be wind blown, but you will be a wind song and become the anthem and glory of soul. God is your impenetrable shield of Hope and His Word is whispering sweet somethings to you. Believe Him for your worth. Believe Him for the wealth He treasures you for. Believe His countenance for you is soft. Believe He is grateful He hung on a Cross to love and to rescue you.

You, Beloved, are worth it.

Be encouraged…

Healthy vs. Unhealthy Competition

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , at 6:37 am by Broken & Brave

Your life will go in the direction of your most dominant thought.

Competition seems to be the nature of the beast, society. Ambition, striving, success and determination to be blessed. Rivalry and competition has been around since the beginning of time. I don’t particularly have a competitive nature, never have. But my Heavenly Father keeps telling me though I don’t compete He has wired me with the ability to be a Conteder. How does that work you may wonder?

Let’s take a look at Rachel and Leah–twp sisters who were caught in an unusual predicament, married to the same man.

As rivalry and unhealthy competition unfolds we can learn a lot about how these two ladies handled themselves or “didn’t” handle themselves. Despite Rachel’s Anointing for Beauty, she became hung up on the wrong things.

What is hanging you up? What is caused discontent in your life? What is the difference between healthy desire to maximize your personal potential (me vs. me competitions) versus unhealthy rivalry and striving?

Here are five keys to living a life free from unhealthy “wanting”. A well watered woman is hard to not draw from!

1. Generosity- Cor. 9:8
A generous woman understands that she can live life with an open hand, God has an endless supply of her needs and He is her first need.

2. Vulnerability- Eph. 5:21
Sometimes, most times it is easier to keep people at arms length than to allow them into our heart and life. A well watered woman understands that true connection happens when we drop our guard enough to develop and cultivate healthy relationships. When we are too guarded we become isolated, hard, cynical, and this can lead to a mean spirit or oppressive behaviors.

3. Listen to the right Voice-
1 Thes. 5:21

We all have a voice and that voice has an assignment-but not all use their voice wisely or cautiously. Sometimes even the most well meaning believers will offer poor wisdom or misguided advice. Put all of it through a filter of the Holy Spirit. What might be a good idea may not be a God idea. What may be shared as truth may really only be perception.

4.Servants heart- Mark 10:42

“Whoever wants to be great among you, be the servant.”

There is something magnificent about the humility that comes with service. It is a form of bowing down-not necessarily physically, but in our heart, mind and soul. In this bowing God gets glory and there is ample Power in humble places. Want more power in your life? Become a servant!

5. Trust God: Surrender Control and know that God has all of your outcomes. Prov. 3:5-6

God is the fixer, not us. I love in the Word where David is fleeing to the Mount of Olives because his son has driven him out and taken over his rightful throne. A man is hurling stones and insults at him and instead of killing the man he replied in 2 Sam. 16:12 “It may be that the Lord will look upon my misery and restore to me by his covenant blessing instead of this curse today.” He trusted God with the outcome and that maybe God had some purpose in what he was facing. Surrender is huge because when we try to control situations, people and outcomes we lurk into a dangerous place of opening a spiritual door to witchcraft. (Gal. 5:20). Surrender declares we understand our position of Sonship. God’s got it!

The Lord your God is a Crimson Warrior! He is right there beside you, paving the way, hearing your prayers, meeting your needs and plotting for you a stellar victory! Drink deep from his wells of living water today so your roots will act like shoots that dig so deep they remain drenched even in the driest of seasons. You are made for more!

Love, Nicole💜

Fan the Flames

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , at 7:17 am by Broken & Brave

Because she knew the fire came from within her, she would not be Benedict. Be the Fire.

Fire Starter…

Be a Fire Starter. When you look at people, interact with them, look at them beyond what can be seen with the natural eyes.
In life people will disappoint you, hurt you, fall short of your expectations …but a fire starter sees past all that, never allowing offense, regret or dislike hold them back. A fire starter sees a flicker down deep of possibility that resides inside of everyone. Fan the spark so it becomes a flame. Do it with love, friendship, forgiveness, humility & affection. Respond rather than react.

The Enemy of your soul may desire you to become engulfed with flames, but there is one who is Greater, Grander, Brigter still. He burns hot and burns with a Hope that smolders with Glorious Hope. His Voice is one of Truth and it is right along side you every day to point the way, remind you that it’s ok and He’s got a way paved that with create a glorious marker on eternity. He knows you are a fire starter and the fire He has begun in you will not go out, but will burn for all of eternity.

Fire Starters…

Holy GPS!

Posted in Devotional, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , at 8:32 am by Broken & Brave

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

Notice the last portion of this verse. He rewards those who earnestly seek him. EARNESTLY, defined as, “marked by or showing deep sincerity or seriousness.” That means, though we plan and we should plan, we must be looking for God’s direction in our plan.
Have you ever taken a a trip, used the GPS, missed the turn and then what does GPS do? It reroutes your course. If you fail to look at the GPS you won’t know you are going in the wrong direction. God wants us completely dependent on His leadership. If we are glued to our plan, even a good one, but God has made other plans, he may give us a thousand life preservers, but we will miss our destination. It’s harder to be in control when we live this way, and for personalities that are more controlling in nature, it’s really hard…but not impossible! God’s got you and he wired you and also given you the ability to follow through with all HE has in mind for you. He’s got a plan that no man can duplicate, accelerate or escape! Be secure in it. ~Nicole

Suit Up!

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , at 6:38 am by Broken & Brave

People work, strive, plan, creating and attempting to create something every human soul craves…security.
We put money aside for retirement. We save. We budget and bargain shop stretching our dollars as far as they will go. We buy insurance for every imaginable detail of life.

But as long as you live you will need spiritual security. You will need your armor. Life is full of the unexpected. We don’t live expecting bad things or troubles to come, but we know we live in an imperfect world. We know better than to fantasize about a pseudo-eutopia. When we place our security in the right place, the correct Source, we know we are protected.

Wait for the Lord, behave honorably, never lose hope, maintain courage. To fear is to doubt God. Trust Him. Steadily offer your heart, mind, body, soul to the true and secure anchor for it all. Bonafide child of God. What are you so worried for anyway? Never give up! This is what it means to truly live by faith. You possess past grace, present grace and there is future grace for you as well. Grace is not just God’s favor and protection, it is also him causing good things to happen for you. He brings the blessings to you. So suit up soldier and relax in his Grace! He’s got you. ~Nicole

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God…”

God’s Timing

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , at 6:30 am by Broken & Brave

Wait for it…..

IMG_9127

When God has a blessing for you it is important to wait for the full blessing in its full measure.

Waiting is hard. Patience is a golden virtue. Many years ago we sold our home during the peek of the market. We sold it to a couple we knew for far less than what the current market value called for. We did this because we knew for some time, 3 years, it’s what God wanted us to do. But we didn’t know right away who we would sell to or when. When the occasion arose as God described (the buyer would ask us to buy our home. No sign in the yard or advertising required). Not only did it create a way for this couple to own their first house, but also we knew obedience would bring us a great blessing. We had a real estate agent offer us $50,000 more than we were asking them and he said he’d still sell it to them at a good price. But we declined. We knew it was a lesser blessing disguised as monetary gain.

Wait for your promises and blessings as though you were waiting on a gift paid with interest. Don’t settle for lesser treasure. Silver is good, but only second best. Trust God for a pot of Gold Treasure Chest! Waiting doesn’t always mean you’re not ready or need refining. Though refine us He does…sometimes it’s just about timing and waiting for His. ~Nicole

Wait a Minute!

Posted in Devotional, true story, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , , at 6:52 am by Broken & Brave

Have you ever had to wait for something? Maybe you had to wait for someone? When I was a girl we went to church on Sunday. My Dad, being a very prompt and punctual fellow, would be ready well before my Mom. As she finished preparing herself for the morning my Father would sit in our living room and play records on the record player of various worship tunes. He would sit at the end of the couch and just softly sing.

Sometimes when we have to wait we become impatient or disinterested in what we were waiting for. We give up. We take a new road. But we can all learn from my Father who chose to wait patiently for the appointed time by singing a song of Worship and lifting his heart to Him.

God knows right where you are today. You may be facing a health crisis, financial crisis, waiting to hear about that job interview or just longing for a change in a dry season of life. Worship your way through. The King of Heaven has got you. ~Nicole

Risky Heart

Posted in Devotional, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , at 7:44 am by Broken & Brave

One of the riskiest things to do is trust someone…not knowing if the trust will be honored or returned.
But God is and will always be worthy of your trust. Even when you don’t know how things will turn out. Even when you don’t know which way to go. Even when it looks as though He has left you or forgotten you. Yes, even then, you can trust Him. It’s like He has gone ahead, filled your vehicle with gas and is coming back to provide your Way. He plans to help to make a get away from all that weighs your heart and soul. So, don’t worry. You can trust Him. He holds you in the Cup of His Hand. He always has a plan. ~Nicole

Old Faithful

Posted in Devotional, true story, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , at 6:50 am by Broken & Brave

It is humbling to believe the King of The Heavens would even notice me. So, I give Him Center Stage. He is Worthy of my praise.

“When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.” Psalm 8:3-5

My experience has shown me over and over again that extreme obedience brings extreme blessing. We don’t obey for the blessing. We obey because we love God. But God is good in tangible ways, too. So He reaches down for me and pulls me close. Sometimes the best analogy I can give of how He blesses me is a courtship. Like he is a beau wanting to impress me so He peacocks around and showers me with gifts and well. I am presently experiencing some of His extreme blessings right now. My heart swoons for Him, my Sacred Romance.

Extreme obedience brings extreme blessing.

God is ever Faithful. Always dependable. He can be counted on and will never count you out. The Joy of His heart reminds me of a story…

We always took family summer vacations growing up. Camping was big for us. We’d always go to a lake somewhere. We had vacation friends we took trips with. Most of them had ski boats so we would camp out and water ski all day every day for a week. I loved skiing and always had great fun. I guess I’ve always been a water and sun lover. But we had a few vacations that differed and were ultra memorable. One was Christmas in Hawaii and the other was a trip to Yellowstone National Park and every interesting stop along the drive. I think the trip to Yellowstone was my all time favorite family vacation. I want to take my own children to visit.

There are many natural hot springs and geysers in Yellowstone. But the most famous is Old Faithful. Old Faithful received its name for its highly predictable geothermal feature. This geyser erupts every 44 to 125 minutes (approx. every one to two hours) at anywhere from 106 to 185 feet lasting 3-10 minutes. It is beautiful, spectacular if you will. The outer perimeter is lined with benches so you can sit and wait for the next eruption. Glorious view.

Have you ever settled in a vista point and taken in a truly spectacular sight? It is so impactful and brings delight to the eyes, the heart and even soothes the soul.

This is how God looks at you don’t you know? It’s true. His love is adorable.

God cares about our habits…
He desires our Faithfulness.
He desires our obedience.
He knows the blessings that come when we faithfully obey.

Make trusting him, leaning upon His good shoulder, drinking in His Mighty and Majestic Presence a habit in your daily life. You will erupt with Rivers of Joy.

Victories are sure to come.

~Nicole
