Gods heart whispers, “I’ll be there, because I can’t imagine moving forward without you.” (Matt. 18:12-14)

Stop spending so much time worrying and living in fear. God is Sovereign. Ultimately, every problem you have is HIS problem. Have a ton of bills? Remind God they need to be paid. You do your part, He does the rest. Got a difficult boss? Thank God for them! It will change your attitude and even if your boss doesn’t change, your heart will. God wants to bless and protect you. So often us people try to do everything ourselves. He isn’t going anywhere. He is committed to you through thick and thin. You are not just one, you are HIS and you are like a priceless and precious gem.  I don’t think He’d have it any other way. By your side forever and unashamed. Where we lack fortitude, God has abundant meansures and rivers without end. Your courage has merit, but His Strength has no end. What a Wonderful Friend.

Youre going to make it.

“Mobbed”

When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”

Mark 5:27-28

Have you ever had God touch your life in a real and dramatic way that left you forever changed? I have and I remind myself all the time how He has touched me and changed me and how completely different I am from the person I used to be.

The woman in the verse had a bleeding disorder. She had been bleeding for more than a decade. So much blood loss drains your energy leaving you lethargic and tired. Weary and worn no doubt. 12 years of doctors, discomfort, inconvenience and probably a lot of embarrassment and shame. Sounds like a recipe for depression, loneliness and despair. But this woman is a perfect example of what happens in a life when we don’t give up, when we persevere, keep faith and refuse to lose Hope. She knew by faith that if she could just touch His clothes she’d be made well. She was after an encounter with God and she pushed through a mob of people to get it.

What is the “mob” in your life right now? Are you crowded out by obstacles, setbacks, lack, personal, physical or emotional attack? Do problems surround you on every side? What is your attitude toward your obstacles? Take on the countenance as this woman. She never gave up. She believed Jesus was who she had heard He was and that she was a candidate for victorious living. She believed her bleeding days would be through.
This can be your belief, too.

Whatever is draining your energy, sapping your hope and stealing your dreams…
There is one who wore a garment that was so flawless- it had no seams. His healing power is Pristine and it is waiting for you. Push through! I know you’ve still got fight in you! You were made to overcome. There is Power in the Blood! ~Nicole

Old Faithful

Posted in Devotional, true story, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , at 6:50 am by Broken & Brave

It is humbling to believe the King of The Heavens would even notice me. So, I give Him Center Stage. He is Worthy of my praise.

“When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.” Psalm 8:3-5

My experience has shown me over and over again that extreme obedience brings extreme blessing. We don’t obey for the blessing. We obey because we love God. But God is good in tangible ways, too. So He reaches down for me and pulls me close. Sometimes the best analogy I can give of how He blesses me is a courtship. Like he is a beau wanting to impress me so He peacocks around and showers me with gifts and well. I am presently experiencing some of His extreme blessings right now. My heart swoons for Him, my Sacred Romance.

Extreme obedience brings extreme blessing.

God is ever Faithful. Always dependable. He can be counted on and will never count you out. The Joy of His heart reminds me of a story…

We always took family summer vacations growing up. Camping was big for us. We’d always go to a lake somewhere. We had vacation friends we took trips with. Most of them had ski boats so we would camp out and water ski all day every day for a week. I loved skiing and always had great fun. I guess I’ve always been a water and sun lover. But we had a few vacations that differed and were ultra memorable. One was Christmas in Hawaii and the other was a trip to Yellowstone National Park and every interesting stop along the drive. I think the trip to Yellowstone was my all time favorite family vacation. I want to take my own children to visit.

There are many natural hot springs and geysers in Yellowstone. But the most famous is Old Faithful. Old Faithful received its name for its highly predictable geothermal feature. This geyser erupts every 44 to 125 minutes (approx. every one to two hours) at anywhere from 106 to 185 feet lasting 3-10 minutes. It is beautiful, spectacular if you will. The outer perimeter is lined with benches so you can sit and wait for the next eruption. Glorious view.

Have you ever settled in a vista point and taken in a truly spectacular sight? It is so impactful and brings delight to the eyes, the heart and even soothes the soul.

This is how God looks at you don’t you know? It’s true. His love is adorable.

God cares about our habits…
He desires our Faithfulness.
He desires our obedience.
He knows the blessings that come when we faithfully obey.

Make trusting him, leaning upon His good shoulder, drinking in His Mighty and Majestic Presence a habit in your daily life. You will erupt with Rivers of Joy.

Victories are sure to come.

Door Knobs

Posted in Devotional, true story, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , at 7:11 am by Broken & Brave

When I was a young girl my Grandparents lived in the cutest little house in San Pedro, CA. It’s a town near the port of Los Angeles. My Mom grew up in that house. There were many little charms about this place that hold memories for me. I could write a lot about it…

But right now my mind is on one particular thing. It was a door knob. This house was so petite it had a small living/family room, a tiny, yet still adorable kitchen, three bedrooms and one little bath located for all in the hall. The hall had great golden chimes on the wall, an old fashion door bell that was fully functioning. Awww, but the knob on that door to bathroom was glass. It looked like a giant diamond and in my mind I imagined it was. I’d put my fingers around it pretending it to be the hugest ring I’d ever seen. This is only one of probably a thousand charming little memories in my heart of this place. What a great memeory. I hadn’t thought of it in years until this morning I came across a note I wrote a while back and I instantly recalled It.

A writer is always writing. I have notes, memos, scratches everywhere. Ideas…many never used until God needs it and then I come across it and new inspiration attends it.

I found it to be a unique piece of writing, just a small fraction of a note, because just last night I heard my Pastor speak of the disciples and how they locked themselves inside a room for fear of persecution after the death of Christ…I wonder if they had door knobs?

Anything in history that God has used greatly He allowed it to walk through a crucifixion of sorts. There is a death to it before God will resurrect and bless it to its fullest measure of promise. He did it with the Lord first. He has done it with individual people, ministries, and  even businesses He intends to use mightily.

Nothing is shielded from the smelting pot of the Almighty.

He intends to produce a pot of gold worthy for a prince. Worthy to be offered to the King of kings.

God can make a way where there seems to be none. I frequently say, “God has a million ideas on how to remedy any given situation…I only need one.” When you’ve done all you can, and you can do no more, you must be still…its no longer up to you.

There is One who is a door opener. We each have a job to do. A purpose to fulfill. He can make a way, but we must do our part. There is a time to move. There is a time to be still. Where are you?

Whatever your course, your disposition, your countenance it is so important to be a yielded vessel to the Almighty. There is no room for the proud heart. For pride is mankinds ultimate demise. Pride demands its own way while Love pulls up and chair and says I’m with you to stay. When we yield to God’s plans we aren’t worried. We may feel stress and pressures of life, but we know God’s got us and all is alright. Then, in His perfect time the right doors open and the wrong ones shut. It’s so important to have your mind right. Be at Peace with God’s plans and allowances. Take your thoughts captive and call them into obedience to Christ. You will never have to repent for obedience. Search your heart and ask God to expose and extinguish any thinking that is false. A clear sharp mind that is strong-hold free. This all by itself is one of life’s greatest victories.

Do these things and watch yourself step Valiantly into your Destiny.

The Banner over you is Love and the Lord has covered all of your being in His. There will be no portion of you left out. He has you completely covered. ~Nicole

I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage.”

Daily Grace🍇

Posted in true story, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , at 6:17 am by Broken & Brave

Early in my married life we purchased a brand new refrigerator. We paid cash for an absolutely huge, luxurious and fancy fridge. It was great. It had a five year warranty. We got it at a ridiculously stellar price. Several years later, on the Fourth of July to be exact, we went to the Lodi Lake Pan Cake Breakfast (a local tradition). But when we returned home from the breakfast we discovered water all throughout the floor of our kitchen. The next morning the repair man was there with sad news about our fridge. It was dead and recommended the expense would be best put toward a new fridge vs. fixing this one. Our fancy fridge was just a month outside the expiration of our warranty.

All of this was disappointing, but we were able to buy a new one so off shopping we went. We found a great fridge at a ridiculously awesome price. Almost unbelievable the price! But everything in me while the owner of the shop spoke to us said, “No! Don’t buy it!” The shop was locally owned and had a stellar reputation for integrity. I knew my husband wanted the fridge. I asked for a moment to discuss our options privately and took my husband to the car. When we sat down he looked at me and said, “We’re not supposed to buy it, huh?” I agreed. So we didn’t buy the awesome fridge and drove home that night a little perplexed at why the Holy Spirit would lead us to leave such a gift behind. But we complied.

The next evening we received a call from a traveling evangelist who’s ministry we’d been supporting for months. He worked with professional athletes as well as ministered and gave words from the Holy Spirit to Congressmen and other political officials, including the President of the US! I need to say, that for about two weeks leading up to this call this minister had been heavy upon my heart. I felt a nudge to give him extra. When the call came, he had dire need. He had never called before, but the circumstances he described seemed justified. We prayed on it individually and then came together to discuss what we each were receiving in the Spirit. No surprise, we had the same dollar amount in our mind. But as soon as the words left my lips I heard and felt and experienced the Spirit of God move on my soul as if to shout it out loud, “Double it!” We gave the minister every penny we had set aside for our new fridge.

For the next few months I “lived” out of an ice chest. It’s a big and rather nice ice chest. We still have it to this day. Don’t recommend using one as a fridge for approximately 3 months though.

I had no refrigerator from Fourth of July until Labor Day weekend. I became an expert at shopping daily and using foods that would keep well in a tub of ice that would melt by night. I’d buy large bags of ice each day and I’d have to drag that chest to the yard to drain the water. Every day. We lived in a residential neighborhood at the time and one of my neighbors was the kind that spent all her free time watching mine. I’m sure she was fascinated by my unusual routine. I, of course, was humbled by it. Labor Day roles around and a friend of mine actually found a non saved relative of hers who was selling a fridge to give it to us instead. She had asked them in July, but they said no. By Labor Day she had asked again because the fridge hadn’t sold. It was mine. It wasn’t even remotely as nice as the one that broke or the one I could’ve bought. But I was so grateful because it was 1,000 times better than my ice chest. When we sold our house and moved away, we gave that fridge away as well to a young couple just starting out and needing a fridge.

This was one of my first real tests of faith the Lord used to see if my walk matched my talk.

God will use anything to deepen your gratitude for all the convenience American life brings. When he takes you deeper in your ability to persevere, obey, sacrifice to the point of inconvenience, you will learn a type of grit that can only be gained by personal experience. Something else happens when God tests your heart and you pass the test, He will give increase and trust you with more of His resources and ability to allow them to flow through you like a conduit of provision not only for yourself, but for others, too. Then everyone gets blessed, not just ourselves. As He trusts us with more resources He trusts us with more intimacy of His heart. He takes us in deeper because we prove through obedience that we love him more than our belongings or our very lives. We lay down our life to live His. It is where the path gets narrower and fewer will be found alongside of you. But I assure you, every step you take is on Holy Ground and the Encounters with the Almighty are Glorious!

It’s not for everybody, but it is for His Radiant,True and Remnant Bride.
Let this be you!

There is nobody else like you. You stand out and shine brightest when your simply being just that, yourself. God’s brilliance expressed in a life. He will empower you to overcome and dig deep through every battle until the stoic presence of your heart has won. You are made to do amazing things…

“Peace, when ruling the heart and ruling the mind, opens in both every avenue of joy.”     ~Sarah W. Stephens

As the body of Christ we are to have both unity and diversity, but all should be walking in intense levels of peace and joy. If you have yet to discover joy or its source, I hope this little diatribe will help you.

“Therefore with joy you will draw water from the well of salvation.” Isaiah 12:3

Joy is not the same as happiness. Joy flows from the soul despite conditions of life. When things are good, we have joy and happiness. When things are not so good, we may not have outward happiness, but we can flow in continual joy. True joy spills out onto others. We don’t just talk of joy and walk around sour. We have a sweet disposition that encourages others without requiring any words spoken. It is like a pleasing aroma that fills the air.

So how do you get there? You must fix your position. Stop focusing on the things not well in your life. Focus on your blessings. Everyone has a blessing! So find it, something to be thankful for. Maybe you struggle with gratitude? Ungratefulness is the most slippery path to misery and is the opposite of joy.

It will take work.

•You have to focus your mind on good, not evil (Phil. 4:8)

•When your thoughts stray, you quickly correct them and bring them back in alignment with something you might look forward to or something that brings your heart a light and life giving countenance.
(2 Corinthians 10:5)

Anything that produces light and life to your heart, think on these things. It could be your kids, your pet, it could be a favorite blanket you get to snuggle under after a long day. It could be how good you plan to feel after eating the healthy meal instead of the fast food. Example, I had a client last night tell me of the length and stress of her day. She has a very prominent position in my community with much responsibility. She was exhausted and almost skipped her workout, but decided she would feel better after if she went and she did! She looked forward to the “after” satisfaction vs. the exertion of the workout. She found her joy.

“In your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11

You’ve got the idea. Once you find your joy you will know it. It will spill over on others like a gentle stream of refreshing waters. You won’t have to force yourself to smile, it will just glide across your face effortlessly.

If you haven’t found joy yet, don’t be upset. It eludes countless people. My pen is simply wanting to encourage you into some action steps to find it. So if your tired of the monotony of your misery, I hope this yields a key.

Come alive with Life and Light and be vibrant in Christ! ~Nicole

Holy Cross

The high road is this way…

In my young married life–a season of the growth of my soul– I remember struggling with something and God helping me to learn to handle it. I remember having a dream of me carrying a cross just like Jesus did. Only I saw something in this dream that looked like a large hand reach down from the sky and gently pinch the large cross on my back as though it were only a stick and began to gently lift so the weight in my back gave some slack.

This is the beauty of God. We sometimes go through trials that aren’t necessarily because of poor choices. Sometimes things just happen. In those times remember that it is no shock to God. He will carry you through it. You may feel like you have to carry the burden, and endure some pain, but to God it’s only a stick and He carries it too. The cool thing about God is He can out lift you…He will always carry the heaviest end of your burden.

He has got you. No worries…Nicole

Intentional

Posted in Devotional, Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , , , , , at 7:55 am by Broken & Brave

With God, “What’s done is done” might not really be done…

All through the Bible we see amazing stories of how someone blew it and then God showed up with a miracle and saw them through it. Who you are is not dependent on what you do! Who you are is a result of to whom you belong to! You’ve been created by a King to do amazing things! You do your part and God does His…
I think there is a lot to be said about God’s willingness to reward our faithful efforts. Despite mistakes, mess ups, and days we just plain miss it. When He knows we are truly trying to follow His path, He is quick to fix it. So every goal you have ever set for your health and fitness or every other aspect of your life–it’s not too late. It’s not forsaken, it’s not beyond you or behind you. He is still with you and if you keep going–so will He! You have been forged from the Rock. You MIGHT as well be granite because you are ROCK SOLID !

God is Intentional about your Redemption! I think that’s pretty incredible. ~Nicole
